There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Jack (Brendan Fraser) is a tree hugger who gets himself landed in jail. He composes sappy letters to his daughter which are read to us in a low caveman voice. While Jack is in jail, his family (minus his separated wife/lawyer Lara Daans) are out camping when they run into a Steinbeck novel and become hunted. The film creates characters, but there is no connection to the viewer. The action isn't anything to get excited over. The main interest of the film becomes Kenny (Ethan Suplee). Kenny was in a truck accident and has some mental issues. He believes Jack's wife, who he talks to by cell phone, is his own mother. Apparently Canadian films has solved the problem of cell phone reception in remote areas. The cat and mouse chase in the woods seemed secondary to the film which was pushing the theme of Jack reconciling his actions with his daughter. It didn't mesh as well as it could. Makes for a desperation rental.Parental Guide: F-bomb. No sex or nudity.
Good day fellow movie goers...I literally just got done watching this movie. I will admit that I was a bit Leary of this particular movie because of others reviews and comments about it on here....surprisingly, I found it to be a clean good movie. I would definitely recommend it. Its nice to find a movie that does not have sex and nudity in it. This movie kept my interest throughout it. Its also nice because every other word is not a curse word. I am sure there are others out there who are looking for the same. So if you are looking for a good clean suspense-thriller movie, I would recommend watching this one. Enjoy!!
After watching half the movie, I decided not to allow the movie to insult me any further and stopped watching. What's wrong with this movie: (1) normal people who sees a gunman killing people would call the police. In this movie, nobody does.(2) if you knock down an opponent with a weapon, take the weapon from the opponent and make sure he doesn't gets up. In this movie, when the good guy knocks down the opponent, he runs without doing any of the above.(3) if you have a rifle with a scope, you hide, take good aim and snipe at your opponent. In this movie, the guy with the rifle stands in the open, shoots without aiming and misses.(4) if someone with a scoped rifle is hunting you, you try to stay hidden. In this movie, the good guys hop into a canoe, paddle in the river with clear view from surrounding areas and make themselves easy targets.A bad movie is one thing, a movie made to insult my intelligence deserves a low rating.
The main antagonist must have carried 5000 rounds and never had to reload, and this with a with a bolt-action rifle. Additionally, in terms of shooting accuracy, he couldn't hit the ground with his feet. While this movie was tense at times, it was so lacking in detail accuracy that it distracted you from the rest of the story. Shooting a (very) sawed-off 12ga at 100+ yards didn't help either. The Daughter's phone seemed to have a full charge and great reception in very remote areas. The one bright spot was the bad guy's friend/brother, who seemed to be sharper/tougher than anyone else in the movie. I'm glad this was only .50 @ Redbox.
