Surprisingly incoherent and boring

A Masterpiece!

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

The B movie studio Nu Image has made some good direct to video movies over the years. Unfortunately, "Skeleton Man" is not one of them. In fact, I think that this could be the worst effort to date that's come out of the company. For starters, it looks really cheap. Everything about the movie looks real tacky, especially the title monster, which looks like it was put together from Halloween product offered at a dollar store. The characters are just as unengaging - there is precious little development done with these people. They are simply bait for the monster. The movie is also badly directed. It's slow and endless, and the, ahem, horror sequences have absolutely no shocks or even serviceable splatter. But I think the worst thing about the movie is that there is NO real explanation for why the title figure has appeared and why it's doing what it's doing. Does it have to do with the archaeological dig mentioned in the first scene? Does it have to do with the Native American the team finds in the woods at one point? It's never made clear. This movie is junk in every way you can think of. If it had been unintentionally funny, there might have been a reason to see it, but this is one bad movie that's so bad it's bad.

I'm a fan of what might be called lesser horror movies. Generally I review them when I believe that other reviewers have been unjust to them. However, although I enjoyed Skeleton Man, it has some problems. The biggest one is that its main episode, involving the skeleton man's inconsiderate treatment of the eight special forces members, is accompanied by briefer "supporting" episodes that just don't support what's going on in the main one. For instance, how does a rather nasty Native American find black garbage bags to wear, and also find an invulnerable horse? Another is that these experienced military people discover fairly soon that the skeleton man is invulnerable to bullets, yet keep firing at him/it. Firing so much and so often that I'm surprised that they could possibly have packed in all that ammo. Finally, what possible successful effect could the fiery conclusion have had?That said, some of the we-have-been-warned Violence scenes are excellent, the mountain scenery is lovely, and enough gore is spilled to fertilize these woods for some time to come. The explosions are generally fine, and … despite what some reviews have written … the acting was acceptable

Now that's a BAD movie, really, but it's not one of the worst I've ever seen. Let me explain.1. Storyline: no. You can't really call it a story. From a wiped out archaeologist to a crack-addicted tramp being called a native Indian, with a patchwork of so-called soldiers facing a poorly nicknamed skeleton living in a parallel *cough* dimension, it's like a puzzle you must solve where all the pieces clearly belong to the same scene but don't match together. You can't achieve the whole picture. You just understand that there's nothing of interest here and it gets quickly boring.2. Script: there are so many inconsistencies that I really wonder if most of the big money invested hasn't in fact been used to repeatedly pay a dealer in order to put the whole team high on drugs.3. Filming: apart from scenes of nature with OK landscapes, sometimes filmed in a trippy way - which again hints at drugs being used by the director himself - the rest is bad quality, low budget, with a lot of clichés.4. Effects: really bad. A body is thrown down a waterfall and you clearly see that its a dummy, due to its odd position while it's falling. The posture of the legs don't even match with the laws of anatomy.5. Acting: this is where the movie, while not doing so well, remains the most credible. Kudos to the actors who at least tried to do what they were paid for.It could have been worse, really! First go see "The Terminators" pastiche movie, and then you'll praise Skeleton Man for being just an ordinary flop.

WARNING! WARNING! While I disliked this film greatly, and I cannot see many people liking it, (except for creepy male teenagers) I get angry when people expect something from SCI-Fi channel, It is a bloody made-for-t.v. movie staring low-B actors! Get real people, go in expecting a bad movie, receive it, and then make a verdict. Do not watch it (skeleton man in particular) if you are highly opinionated! Now for the real review! This movie is quite pathetic, and it adds it self to the festering tripe lining the squishy smelly stomach of the Sci-fi channel. The acting is horrible, and the costumes/make-up are terrible. For example, the Garbage-bag cloak of the dead warrior? Ach, it made the actor look like a stick wrapped in a blanket. It over-sized him by about 3-1, and so, for an example of how big it was, the skull of the thing had an over-sized hood around it, that stood up by itself somehow, making the skull, look like a pea in a plastic bag. Also, there seemed to be a lot of unnecessary deaths. Watch it and see for yourself...Muahahahaa
