I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

Spoiler alert.. You will want to spend some serious time and money to find the writers and the director of this abomination and have them executed for inflicting this violently painful collection of dialogs, scenes and music. I mean the reasons why I could hang on for the whole movie, is two fold..1) I liked the idea of visually filtering out the "real Mumbai" with some cross screen tint; and,2) I've never written a review before, on a movie, so I thought I should warn people of this, as a public service. I had to get through the whole movie, so that I could keep my enthusiasm to write this review. So enjoy! And share the hate!

of course the premise of the movie is very clear from the trailer- a defense attorney's daughter is kidnapped and she is forced to defend a rape, murder accused in exchange of her daughter's release. in the movie, the mystery about the kidnapper and the reason for this strange request is very well built up. the audience is kept guessing about this until the end. in addition there are some more twists in the movie which make the story even more interesting. but by the time the movie's ending approaches, all these begin to crumble. 1st of all when the mystery is finally revealed you'll think "this is it? is this the best logic the writer could think of behind this whole mystery drama?" the solution doesn't look at all convincing and is one of the stupidest i could think of. secondly all the other twists in the movie turn out to be nothing. their whole purpose was to build up the mystery, but adds nothing to the actual solution. looks like the writer concentrated so much on the mystery build up that he forgot about the actual solution.there are other stupid mistakes in the movie (which i can't tell without giving out spoilers), but even then i was thinking that these were typical of any bollywood movie and was hoping at least the climax would be good. but ultimately it turned out to be one of the worst waste of time for me.I also found that it's a remake of a Korean film, but i don't know how faithful the film makers were to the original story.

JAZBAA - So its the Big Comeback this Friday from the gorgeous (i think the whole country would agree on that) Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. From the start when i get to here that Aish is doing a comeback in a Sanjay Gupta film , i was little shocked. Sanjay Gupta is not a mainstream director in Bollywood. He make genre movies , mostly crime and thriller. That too mostly with actors like Sanjay Dutt , Sunil Shetty and Anil Kapoor. Yes there was Amitab Bachchan in Kaante and John Abraham in Shoot Out at Wadala which are actually the exceptions in his not so great Filmography.. So why Aish choose this movie , may be because Gupta's last outing was a hit or may be Aish connected with the character of the mother. Whatever the reason is , it was a not so good decision. And this movie will not give any push to Aish's carrier. I really don't have anything much to write. Because there is nothing great in the movie (except the beautiful cinematography) neither there is anything worst in the movie . It was just passable. So i am gonna keep this review short The whole story has been almost shown in the trailer , only suspense left in the movie was that who exactly was the kidnapper. That too has been predicted by my friend sitting with me almost around interval. Nor it was too shocking. Actually i kind of disliked the climax. The courtroom scenes are done totally in a childish manner. I mean can a High Court Judge really give bail to a person whom the lower court has regarded as convict just because his lawyer in High Court proves that there was another person in the house when murder was done. Although she is not denying that his client could be the murderer. That was so silly. I didn't liked the characterisation too. Aish's character hasn't been shown as an honest lawyer. Infect the first scene in the film shows that she will do anything to save his client whether its legal or illegal . And yes she only takes the case of guilty criminal as they only can afford his fees. I imagine why exactly kidnapping has been done of his daughter , she could have taken the case happily as this was what she does - saving criminals. Then there was Irfan Khan. Already given too breakthrough performance this year , this time he choose wrong. His chemistry with Aish was totally bad. They two are not to bring together . And yes those over the top dialogues made Irfan's character uninteresting. I mean yes those dialogues are poetic (not all of them but some of them) , but totally irrelevant for the film. After many time there comes a picture where actually i didn't enjoyed Irfan Khan . And same goes for Sabana Azmi. I am not blaming them , its totally writers fault. Sanjay Gupta's track record is not great , but he use to make watchable movies. This one also goes in the category of ZINDA and DUS KAHANIYA. But they could have gone in the category if KAANTE and SHOOTOUT AT WADALA if written well. This was only style without material. The cinematography is one thing which i have to appreciate. The look of Mumbai was totally unique like never seen before which could only be enjoyed in big screen. But i guess that's not enough to pay the price of the ticket.O yes , i forget to tell about Aishwarya's acting. Well i think its still the same. She is always good in good director's hand , average in average director's hand and bad in bad director's hand. And here she was average. 5.9/10. By ANuP APu KuMaR

A remake of the 2007 South Korean film Seven Days, 'Jazbaa' Directed by Sanjay Gupta, is a stylish thriller, but sadly, its soulless! Though not without its share of moments & a cast that willingly delivers, this visually striking film, lacks depth.'Jazbaa' Synopsis: After her daughter is kidnapped, An idealistic lawyer has to defend & bail out a heinous criminal, in order to get her child back. She's accompanied by a disgraced cop, who realizes there is much more to what's happening, than what it appears to be.'Jazbaa' begins tepidly & remains dull for its most of its first-hour, but it gathers tremendous momentum in its second-hour. The pace is fast & the visual appeal holds. But, Gupta's Adapted Screenplay appeals in bits & pieces. The Protagonist's struggle to win back her daughter, with many twists & turns, sometimes arrest, but are predictable otherwise. Though the climax, is well-done. The corny dialogue, however, seem too filmy for a thriller such as this. Gupta's Writing needed to have more force! Gupta's Direction, on the other-hand, is stylized. Sameer Arya's Cinematography is stark. Editing is decently done. Background Score is a bit too loud. Action-Sequences are ordinary.Performance-Wise: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan returns on-screen after a hiatus & the actress is very sincere in her portrayal of a desperate mother. But its Irrfan Khan who steals the show. Despite being given the most filmy lines, the fantastic actor has a ball playing the cop. Shabana Azmi is quite effective, while Chandon Roy Sanyal hams it up as the convict. Atul Kulkarni is first-rate, as always. Siddhanth Kapoor & Jackie Shorff are wasted. On the whole, 'Jazbaa' isn't a bad watch, but it could've been sharper nonetheless!
