The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

The setup is all too familiar: we have a girl who wonders about life. She has sex, is disappointed in love (always mildly by our measures) and thus "grows up." Its a persistent fiction that is glued into filmdom and god knows how many lives it has bent. But as these go, this one isn't as tendentious as the others. I think that's because of the triple narrative structure. The main narrative is the girl (here Dominique Swain fresh from "Lolita"), who tells us what is going on in her mind. Thhings like "I wish I could grow up." Sometimes her narration is her thoughts in the story rather than over it, such as when she says something polite but is thinking something rude. The second narrative is the story we see of course. Naturally, all the sex is akin to dreamy cuddling. The third narrative is embedded in the story, the narrative of incisive rock songs. Indeed, they are rock songs about the very stuff of the story and inspired by the story itself. The three are woven together, each commenting on the other.Few young viewers will notice, but this is pretty sophisticated storytelling. Even though every thing in it is empty and borrowed, the whole seems much fresher. Ted's Evaluation -- 2 of 3: Has some interesting elements.

I think this movie is a wonderful one. I just love Sean Patrick Flannery. I think he looks his best in this movie. I liked him as a rocker u know. Does anyone know if that was really him singing. I just wish he wasn't that old, because i definitely would want to date him. He has this great personality in this movie. I wish i was an actress or at least be able to meet him. I think he would be a really awesome person to get to know. I think my favirote part of this movie is when they are at the woodstock kind of thing and he pulls her up on stage and then kisses her it was so sweet and i also liked his say ''everything will be alright'' Well i guess this wraps it up. I guess i'm extremely one of Sean Patrick Flannery's fan.

I read this book years before they made it a movie. I so loved the book. Years later i was watching TV with my best friend (who also loved the book) and it came on the movie channel. I love this movie. I can understand where a guy might think this a bad movie. But i think you have to be a girl to understand and really appreciate this movie. Give it a chance. Its like a coming of age movie but more. Andrea is this strait a student thats been sheltered and its her senior year and feels like she needs to experience more before going to college. She falls for this beautiful lead singer of a band, the color green. She thinks he will change her life when really in the end she changes his. Its a great movie. I really recommend it to any female, and any guy willing to have an open mind and not be like a total stupid male.
