If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

Have the series of movies on dvd. This movie started it all.Mike Landon Jr good director.Great acting.Maybe some expect a movie has to have profanity and sex and special effects to be watchable, but when that's your requirement,go to an amusement park or arcade because you're missing out on life. This movie holds my interest from start to finish because it tells an honest story about characters who are worth caring about.Loved seeing the third generation Macready gentleman here,Oliver Macready.Loved Dale and Corbin!

The film exceeded my expectations. Perhaps I was prejudiced about movies that takes place in the Midwest of 1800s. I didn't want to watch a movie about cowboys and defenseless women in distress where they fall madly in love in a very tacky way.Fortunately, I decided to watch it anyway. As a history enthusiast, I was pleased with landscapes and clothes that reflect the era in which the movie takes place. In addition, I was pleased to see that the leading role is far from being a defenseless woman. Maybe she was a little distressed at time but Marty is intelligent, educated and very strong. She has a bold personality that I loved. After watching some of the sequel, Katherine Heigl is definitely the right Marty Claridge. She plays this character with heart and conviction.I would also like to note the performance of the little Skye McCole Bartusiak, who plays Missie. Wow! She moved me, surprised me and sometimes frustrated me. She was pretty talented for a girl her age.I like that the movie was for all ages.

LOVE, based on a book series, is about a pregnant widow (Katherine Heigl) staying for awhile with a farmer (Dale Midkiff) who is a widower with a small daughter (Skye Bartusiak). Not surprisingly, she falls in love with the hardworking, God-fearing farmer, and hopes to stay and make a new life with him. Heigl and Midkiff turn in strong performances, and Bartusiak holds her own with these seasoned actors. The TV movie will remind many of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE, and coincidentally was directed by Michael Landon Jr., son of Michael Landon, star of LITTLE HOUSE. There's a spiritual element to the plot and several references to a higher power, but it is not laid on so thick as to harm the movie. Beautifully filmed.

This movie packed a lot of punch for a quiet movie. Katherine Heigl is mesmerizing as a pioneer woman widowed on the trail. And Dale is superb as the pious widowed farmer who takes her in as a companion and teacher to his annoying rude daughter. But Heigl wins over the young girl and somehow over the course of the film, Katherine & Dale fall in love in a very heartwarming and tender manner. The movie will take you by surprise if you have not heard of it before hand. It is full of an unexpected richness of heart and character. The supporting actors who play their neighbors were wonderful. The ending is sufficiently exciting and satisfying to wrap up this terrific story. I was deeply moved by their love for each other. The only thing missing was a little more physical contact between the two leads. They never so much as kissed each other or put their hands on each other. I would have liked to see a bit more chemistry. Also recommended: THE OUTSIDER with Naomi Watts & Tim Daly.
