While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.

A bit of independent romantic bizarre mixture to create a suitable environment to enjoy the movie.Indeed, from the start to the odd end, the movie presents a fresh idea if you are tired of the typical American romantic comedy but you love the concept of two strangers falling in love; the movie is enthralling and fresh that even the predictable happy ending has a innovating details to left the viewer with a smile.Besides the situations you have the awkwardness of the characters allowing you to have a wonderful time laughing with/at them.Recommended as well as the soundtrack.

A few days ago, I saw a terrible romantic comedy that I reviewed. Most of the problem with it was the atrocious writing and I ended my article suggesting you try another film--ANY other film. Well, I just saw a wonderful romantic comedy--one that I heartily endorse and hope you see with someone you love. This is THE film to see instead. Sadly, however, because it's a French language film, many folks won't even consider it.The film is about two amazingly shy people--so shy that she faints when she is nervous and he tends to run away when he gets a case of the nerves! How the two finally get together is what makes this an ultra-charming and delightful film.It begins with Angélique (Isabelle Carré ) going on job interview to become a chocolatier. What she doesn't know is that the man interviewing her, Jean-René (Benoît Poelvoorde), is also incredibly shy. She's so shy that she doesn't even tell him that she wants to make chocolates and he's so shy that he doesn't even tell her she's been hired! Eventually, she somehow figures out she's been hired but reluctantly goes out to sell his sub-par chocolates because he thinks she wants to be a salesperson. But chocolate shops don't want his candies and unless something happens, she realizes that the company is bound to go bankrupt. What you then learn is that she is a world-class chocolatier--but is so shy that she cannot bring herself to tell anyone that she is the 'mysterious hermit' who has previously gained nationwide fame for the chocolates. How can she manage to help Jean-René without revealing who she really is? And, more importantly, how can the pair ever get together romantically considering they are absolutely hopeless with the opposite sex? So why did I like this film so much? Well, the characters are so cute and adorable you can't help but care about them and love them. This means that the actors, director (Jean-Pierre Améris) and writer (Jean-Pierre Améris also co-wrote the film) did a fabulous job in this film. Additionally, the film is so totally unique and so amazingly clever that you cannot help but enjoy. Try this film--I pretty much guarantee that if you watch it you will enjoy it. And, if you have Netflix, it's now available. Or, since it's such a great film, you might just want to buy this film from Amazon for less than $14--a real bargain!

ROMANTICS ANONYMOUS:Chocolates form the basis for this funny movie that brings together a nervous man who owns a chocolate factory and a charming girl who has mastered the art of chocolate making. The unexpected turn of events help them overcome their inhibitions, and in that process they also motivate their team of loyal workers to a glorious win. A nice movie about simple human touch that provides fun filled entertainment. When Hollywood is churning out films with so much of violence and brutality for the sake of entertainment, here is a refreshingly different story that is sure to touch your heart and make you feel good that there are still good directors who are willing to tell something that can be simple and heart warming.

ROMANTICS ANONYMOUS (Les émotifs anonymes) is a wonder bit of French fluff that may seem like a little love story on the surface, but has a lot to say about our current state of relationships. Written (with Philippe Blasband) and directed by Jean-Pierre Améris this little film takes advantage of the fine comedic talents of the two stars and brings a supporting cast of of actors to the table who demonstrate how fine cameo roles can be polished.Angélique Delange (the perky, multitalented Isabelle Carré) cannot cope with relating to people: she is a shy young student in a chocolate class taught by M. Mercier (Claude Aufaure) who rises to the top of her class as a chocolatier winning employment in the finest chocolate business in France when suddenly M. Mercier dies. Angélique is without a job and is terrified of interviewing (she belongs to a group therapy session called Romantics Anonymous where the group shares their flaws in relating to people. She sees and interview slot for a candy business owned by Jean-René Van Den Hugde (Benoît Poelvoorde) - a man who is terrified of women as he works through sessions with his therapist (Stéphan Wojtowicz). Angélique's interview goes well and she is hired on the spot - as a sales rep!Through a series of trial and error Angélique wins the friendship of the small staff (Lorella Cravotta, Lise Lamétrie, Swann Arlaud, and Pierre Niney) who understand the business is going bankrupt and together they stage a lessons on chocolate making that results is the staff learning all the secrets for the now defunct Mercier Chocolates. Angélique and Jean- René seem to find an attraction to each other but their emotional timidity prevents them from connecting until a big break comes: the business is chosen to attend the chocolate prize competition and in the midst of the trip the two seem to overcome their handicaps. But the future isn't assured until Jean-René attends Angélique's group therapy session, a place where they both must confront their feelings, and from there on the film dashes into a fun French farce. The film is in French with English subtitles and comes off like an uncorked bottle of fine champagne. It is a fun, light, romantic little takeoff on how so many people must join group therapy just to relate to each other. It bubbles! Grady Harp
