Plenty to Like, Plenty to Dislike
I wanted to but couldn't!
In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
This movie does the book justice! Being one who just loves this book, i was skeptical as to whether the movie would do it justice! Both Jack Lemmon and Hank Azaria do a brilliant job and it is just such a beautiful movie! Lemmon is absolutely perfect for the role of wise, old Morrie, whom is just so lovable in this role. All of life's greatest lessons can be learned from watching this and it really captures the essence of life and friendship itself. Really moving, thought provoking and touching. Keep a box of tissues handy, because the tears will be streaming all through it!!A simply beautiful movie that will change your view on life and really teach you what it means to be living!!
Excuse me, but this film should be an insult to anyone over the age of ten. Are we to believe that, first of all, Jack Lemmon can convinceably play a Jewish character. That terrible lapse in casting notwithstanding, since when does Morrie Schwartz have a patent on dying with dignity and optimism? Who made Morrie the sage of the century when confronted with the grim reaper? People with a lot less education and success have died with equal an equal amount of dignity and have no regrets for the life they have lived. But of course the film-makers don't understand this about their audience. They believe that everyone who views this film is so afraid of death that they need a lesson on how to bow out gracefully. The real Morrie Schwartz was no doubt a good man, but he ultimately became the darling of the media who didn't mind being exploited. The story should have left there. This is not a film but packaged syrup that's good for pouring over stale waffles.
I thought the movie was very well done. Hank Azaria and Jack Lemmon did an excellent performance with their roles. The other actors also did and excellent job. The story is very good and very educational. The end was very touching and really gets you thinking. It's a movie I would strongly recommend. Thank you making the movie. Great job!!
I and my wife liked everything about this movie. The actors seemed well chosen. The acting was sensitive and remarkable. The filming was one of those you like with soft warm colors, yet clear, with asides of things like beautiful autumn leaves and rain on windows. Whether a Jack Lemon fan or not you should appreciate him in this. I've read the non-fiction book and the movie follows it well; whether you've read the book or not you should find this movie touching and rewarding.
