Divine Emanuelle
The young daughter of a US Senator is drawn into a hippie “free love” cult called “The Children of Light” by the blond boyfriend of the cult’s leader, a mysterious and beautiful Asian woman. The cult turns out to be not quite the “free” love community it presents itself to be.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
"Die Todesgöttin des Liebescamps" or "Love Camp" is the probably most known work by "filmmaker" Christian Anders. He wrote his one, directed it and also plays the central male character. It is from 1981, so has its 35th anniversary this year and there seem several version out. The one watched ran for only 75 minutes which was great as it was really not a good watch. The only thing memorable was probably the bright blond hair from the young Christian Anders. This is the story of a daughter of a senator, who ends up with some hippie cult, who live in accordance with their own free-spirit kinda ways. Or not really. As inside this cult, there is all kinds of violence, torture, sexual abuse and even murder. The cult leader is played by Laura Gemser, an Indonesian actress who is probably known to some. But neither she nor anybody else in this film has strong acting talent, although you cannot really judge that from the way the characters are written. I still would say it was not as bad as some other German sexploitation films from the 1970s and there are a couple bearable scenes and moments, but of course it is not even close to being good enough for me to recommend the watch. Thumbs down.
A hippie love cult led by the stern, yet charismatic the Divine One (perfectly embodied by the delicious Laura Gemser) lures young innocents for their money and corrupts them in the name of their cause. The blithely passive and brainwashed cult members fornicate like bunnies, frolic about in their birthday suits, prostitute themselves for cash, engage in ritualistic chants, and get brutally whipped when they disobey the stern rules. Complications ensue when loyal recruiter and disciple Dorian (blonde doofus Christian Anders) falls for the fetching Patricia (lovely and voluptuous Simone Brahmann), who's the wealthy daughter of a powerful American senator. Writer/director Anders offers an enjoyably oddball cross between "Hair" (the incredibly dippy disco theme song and a couple of crazy song and dance numbers are both totally sidesplitting, albeit unintentionally so) and the infamous Jim Jones religious cult that certainly doesn't skimp on either the plentiful tasty nudity or the equally abundant sizzling soft-core sex (we've got straight, lesbian, and interracial couplings served up hot and spicy for the viewer's delight). The heightened erotic atmosphere and Gemser's smoldering sensuous presence ensure that this film never becomes dull. Better still, Anders treats all the wild and raw carnality with complete seriousness, which in turn greatly enhances the picture's considerable campy charm (a twisted ceremony involving the deflowering of the virginal youngest cult member rates as a definite loopy highlight). A delectably daft and decadent doozy.
This is one of those hippie/"free love"-type films that were big in the early 1970's (complete with some truly insipid musical numbers) except that it was made in 1980 and was also obviously influenced by the very unpleasant series of Nazi prison camp movies that were big in the mid to late 70's. The resulting hybrid is truly bizarre. Members who violate the "free love" ethos of the cult (i.e. by trying to have monogamous relations or refusing to prostitute themselves to perverted outsiders for money)are whipped and tortured. Laura "Black Emanuelle" Gemser is the main attraction here, playing the supreme leader of the cult. I'm sure no one has ever complained about her numerous nude and sex scenes, but she does seem a little miscast as an Ilsa, the Wicked Warden type (she's a svelte, submissive Asian, not a tall, dominant Teutonic type). The plot (in so much as there is one) involves a naive senator's daughter who is seduced into the cult by Gemser's ridiculously blonde, male second-in-command. The movie plays out like a softcore version of "Hair" with an occasional beating and torture sequence and maybe a nod here and there to the Manson Family and the then recent Guyana tragedy. Not really recommended, but if you enjoy this sort of thing.. .
If a quasi-mythical, strange odyssey into a distorted matriarchal society marked by strange hippy ceremonies and sexual torture of all and sundry sounds like your desire for the night this might just be your choice viewing material. Its an intriguing oddity marketed in some countries as porn (Divine Emanuelle), in others as some sort of crime/action film. Its reminiscent of the "cult" films like Guyana and the real events on which they were based like the Jonestown cult: ie, kooky dnacing, chanting and solemn ceremonial garb soon ripped or torn like some Greek melodrama/historical play with bouts of murder and violence mixed with sexual power games. It is an undeniably luscious cheap film in terms of design and location with kinky indulgence in various fetishes from whipping to stalking plus generous doses of nudity both male and female. Its a quirky flick starring the Nubian-like Queen of exploitation (Black Emmanuelle) Laura Gemser wielding her power generously upon a vast array of dutiful and punishable subjects as she seeks further power and wealth. A film for exploitation/film-porn junkies with a sense of humour.
