Right Out I Give It A 25 Out Of 10 I LOVED IT!, I Have Read Other Reviews On Here, And They Are Crap, They Say The Movie Had Loopholes In The Plot, Well What Were These Mysterious Plot holes!? They Don't Tell Us, And The Acting Of The Crazy People Was Overacted, I Thought It Was Perfect For How Crazy People Act It Was Genius, And Then Apparently According To One Reviewer The Ending Was Unncessary, Your Just Mad You Didn't Guess It, You Blowhard. And Lets Not Forget The The Actors Were To Good For There Roles, Yes Lets Find A lot Of People Who Cant Act And Cannot Play A Nurse Or A Head Doctor, Fantastic Idea! The Damned Fools, I Strongly Stand By It Was Well Written, BEAUTIFULLY Well Shot, The Opening Was Creepy As HELL!, I Loved All The Actors, They Played There Parts Perfectly, Every Dollar On The Budget Was Used To Perfection, Watch And Enjoy

Last night my friends and I decided to rent a DVD and we found this one interesting. First of all, the setting is by no means original. It is a classic mental health facility presumably situated in the countryside where people are locked up: people whose mere existence the society tries to forget about. Clark Stevens, a soon-graduating student of psychiatry, arrives at Cunningham Hall to finish his practical training, but soon discovers that there is something strange about this peculiar mental health facility. The plot is not the most original one there is, yet the producers wound up with an OK result. Once the story begins to unfold I pretty much lost interest in the film though, as though the film did not manage to keep the tension throughout the last part of the film. The film is worth seeing if you have nothing better to do a Sunday evening, but do not expect too much entertainment. 5/10

If you don't over-analyse the plot (which is at turns both confusing and contrived), there is quite a bit to enjoy about writer/director William Butler's asylum-set horror tale, Madhouse. Joshua Leonard plays Clark Stevens, a psychiatric intern at a creepy mental institute who experiences spooky occurrences during his stay. With the help of sexy, buxom nurse Sara (Jordan Ladd) he delves into the dark history of the crazy-house and unearths the truth about the strange patient locked away in cell 44.Despite a whole shed-load of clichés, a couple of silly, but delightfully gory deaths (check out that electrocution scene—hilarious!), and some obvious plot turns, Butler manages to conjure up quite a bit of atmosphere, and his rundown asylum full of OTT murderous psychos is perfect for delivering scares.Instantly forgettable, but fun while it lasts, Madhouse isn't going to shock the more hardened horror fans (who will have seen this kind of thing done before, and better), but is perfect fodder for those who enjoy the occasional fright flick.

I'll just keep this straight, and simple. This movie is NOT a good movie. There are some pretty terrible jump cuts, tons of continuity errors, boring dialogue, and other mistakes I would commonly see in any amateur film. There was plenty of nice looking gore(as well as the bad looking gore), but that doesn't mean much if the deaths are extremely predictable, and at some moments absolutely ridiculous. Example: Turning on a radio to terrible rock music just to see a woman be tasered by some 1980's electric-blue lightning effects. Of course the torture went on to some more gruesome effects, but that did not improve the quality of the scene. The only thing remotely creepy about this movie are the horror montages commonly seen in many other horror movies of jittering, deformed, and mangled humans/creatures. I will, despite my opinion of this movie, acknowledge the well thought out plot. I don't believe it to be a good plot, rather I'm just happy to see that everything in the movie was actually there for a purpose. The climax of the movie, if you can call it that, was short and unsatisfying. After surprising the viewers with the identity of the killer (if you hadn't figured it out by then), the confrontation between the killer and what seemed to be his number one nemesis was short and unsweet. There was no interesting dialogue between the two, the death was more boring than the earlier scene of the suicide patient hanging from the ceiling, and it was followed by a very typical denouement. I can definitely say that I have seen plenty of movies worse than this, but that didn't stop me from being slightly embarrassed for asking friends to watch this with me.
