Rocklin Colorado, 1925. A hard cold winter. Young Arturo Bandini loves his father Svevo, his mother Maria and his brothers. Even though his beautiful and pious mother lets his father get away with that, even if his little brother wets the bed. Arturo loves them all. Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
