Very best movie i ever watch
Boring
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
By watching this flick about some found footage of a serial killer, that idea was original, it reminded me of course of Henry Portrait Of A Serial Killer (1986) and Man Bites Dog (1992). Those surely have given people the creeps. This one doesn't although there are a few scene's that are not for the easily offended. It starts rather well with a normal flick about a serial killer but suddenly the movie is interrupted by Max (Kevin Howarth) telling that he has put his murder spree over a flick so you are the only one watching his life and the bad things he has done. I must say that indeed some of those deeds were gruesome but the combination of narrating and showing his abilities didn't work like in for example the earlier mentioned Man Bites Dog. Here also the crew slowly got involved and it do look like a rip-off of Man Bites Dog but the brutality of that film we never do see here. The idea is in fact original and towards the end when Max is referring to the viewer it do works but it has it flows and it didn't give me goosebumps like the two other flicks did. Still, not recommended for easily offended people.Gore 1/5 Nudity 0/5 Effects 3/5 Story 3/5 Comedy 0/5
So heres a great idea. A killer steals a horror movie from the video shop, tapes over the film with him being all smarmy and intersecting scenes of him killing people in various ways.It would have been amazing were it not for a little Belgian film called 'Man Bites Dog' back in 1992. Call it homage, call it rip off, but you cannot help but think of that classic while watching this. But when all is said and done though, it's still a fine movie, but the twist of the movie is that the killer waits for someone to rent the movie, and follow them home, and ultimately kill them.Max is your typical wannabe middle class thirty something, who knows the cost of everything and the value of nothing. If you can stomach his pretentious fox pops and silly anecdotes, you will love this movie.Fortunately in my line of work, I deal with these sorts of people everyday, so Max didn't really annoy me much, even his delusional anecdotes about life. It's a brutal movie, not for the faint hearted, and what makes it brutal, isn't the killings, it's the victims, they are normal people, no back story, your neighbour, someone you pass on the street, and the way the camera lingers on the victim, is the most shocking part of the film.It loses a point for really trying to make Max seem normal by having him host dinner parties and his friends are annoying, at points I wanted him to kill them. All in all, it's a brilliant little movie, so what if it homages MBD, the novelty is there, and it works to good effect.
A classic, everything about this movie brings chills down my spine. Its a great example of what a b movie horror should be.There is plot twists, scary shocking moments like any good horror movie, but they keep coming out you through out this film. If your any horror fan at all you would never in your wildest dreams miss this movie. There's never any moments when you feel like your going to get let down and the action and anticipation keep you on your edge of the seat till the credits roll. Thats all that needs to be said about this movie, its a great horror film and one not to be missed.
Like a lot of horror fans, I'm always interested in seeing bloody, over-the-top shenanigans and naked girls. The Last Horror Movie--which I saw a while ago and was super excited to find out it's going to be playing on Troma Comcast On-Demand this month (!!!)--definitely delivers the gore. However, it's also very intelligent film that stands on its own next to films like Peeping Tom and Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. The writing is as sharp as it is self-reflexive, and the cinema verite cinematography adds depth and realism to the film. For fans and non-fans of the genre, The Last Horror Movie is a brilliant yet bloody exploration of the mind of a serial killer. Interested? Watch it on Troma Comcast On-Demand! I'll be right there with you.
