You Don't Choose Your Family
César Borgnoli, an unsuccessful car salesman from Italy, lives well beyond his means. In order to get out of his financial disaster, he agrees to a deal: he pretends to be the husband of his sister's girlfriend Kim so she can legally adopt a little girl from Thailand. Caesar believes this to be a great idea and is looking forward to his trip to Thailand. After all, he is going to be able to mix business with pleasure--so he thinks. He didn't expect the local police, the Chinese Triads and the director of the orphanage to chip in, who want to make sure that little Mai is going to end up in a nice family.

Sadly Over-hyped
Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.
It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Jean Reno said that he was tired playing the same character (mellow) in movies, but he doesn't seem to be able to get away from it. Even if there are bursts that seem to free him from that cage in this movie, the overall impression is a mellow state. The subject matter would be ripe for a great comedy. And sometimes this might even feel like one. But unfortunately it never is.It's not bad either, but the most of the jokes are too predictable to be funny. There are also story parts that seem redundant (like a notebook being written and then being tossed out of the window ... only use, some "jokes" that might make people chuckle during the movie, most of them being cliché). Acting wise it's good and the characters are defined nicely too. An average comedy overall
this is a great movie.A great comedy with jean reno and Christian clavier on top of there game.This movie has a little of everything to have a great time.The association between those 2 actors is one of the best ever,the story is very modern and translated in a lot of emotions.The movie talks about child adoption and homosexual couples.They manage to turn the subject in a light subject and the movie was very respectful in the matter.jean reno is a great actor every scene with him is a delight and Christian clavier is so funny he is hilarious. This movie is perfect to have a good time,it,s deep and clever they should make more of those movies because they are fun movies.this is a great comedy that everybody can enjoy.jean reno is amazing is such a great actor and in this movie he is very funny.
