Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.

Six stereo typical students (stoner, jock, nerd, slut & token black guy) are hired by a sleazy business man to renovate a dilapidated old house. Along the way an Evil Dead type book of incantations is discovered, with predictable results. The opening scene features a group of hot, naked witches performing a bloody, occult ritual. It does slow right down after that for the next half hour or so, but once the cast start getting killed in elaborate & gory ways the film picks up nicely. It also turns into a comedy, with mixed results. It is a very cheap looking movie, with wooden acting & at times poor sound, but despite an unfavourable first half (it was heading for a 3/10 score) it quickly became quite entertaining.

Dana (Jessica Ellis) and her boyfriend Tyler (Terry Erioski) own a cleaning company and they travel with his stepbrother Iggy (Zak Kilberg) to clean up an old house for the arrogant real state agent Carl (Brad Milne). They invite the promiscuous Heather (Laura Stein); her boyfriend Brandon (Travis Wood) and the pothead Razz (Billy Beck) that are their friends, to help them. They meet Carl and his secretary Alexandra (Jen Alex Gonzalez) in the house and when they clean the basement, there is a bad smell and they find a book made of flesh. Iggy translates the text and discovers that the place is a portal to an evil female demon that was summoned one hundred years ago. He also discovers that a sin would be capable to awake the She Demon (Adriana Esquivel) and the group decides to have no sex in the house. But it is too late since Heather and Brandon are alone in a bedroom. Now the She Demon is unleashed and they find that they are trapped in the house."The Slaughter" is a low-budget movie with flawed characters (Carl and Alexandra are unbearable; Brandon and Razz are douchebags); poor locations and special effects; and a screenplay that should be improved. The makeup and the camera work are good and in the end, considering the budget, this Z-movie is enjoyable and entertains. My vote is five.Title (Brazil): "O Massacre" ("The Slaughter")

I bought this movie a while back while I was on a quest to find the crappiest horror movie... It's indeed crappy but not nearly as much as I tought it would be. I was maybe a bit generous giving it a 6 but still it was an half way decent no-budget movie that doesn't take itself seriously with a very funny ending... I admit, the acting was poor (on purpose maybe) and the story line made little sense (again on purpose maybe I wonder)... BUT if you go into it without any expectations and are able to enjoy ''the no-budget spoof of a spoof made by a bunch of friends'' type of movie you'll surely find something to enjoy in that joke of a film.

Usually I like a slasher movie, but "The Slaughter" was just plain disgusting. The typical hackneyed story of a bunch of twenty-somethings going to an abandoned house and awakening an evil spirit, they leave nothing to the imagination; some of this stuff doesn't even need to get imagined, let alone depicted. As it so happens, some of the names encompass my family's names. The director is Jay Lee (my name is Lee, my father's name is Jay), and one of the characters is named Dina (my mother's name). But the movie is too gross for me to consider even that aspect cool. This is one movie that I truly do NOT recommend. FearNet has shown some neat horror flicks ("Down" and "Blood Diner", for example), but they didn't need to show this one. Adriana Esquivel was pretty hot, though.
