I did the other way round from the writer. He found these people and made them characters of his book. I looked for people who had similar stories to those described in the book, and made them characters of my film. When I read the book, I was seduced by its "false documentary" characteristic. A Surprisingly Unforgettable Movie!
If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
