Love Lies

Widowed for years, reclusive obstetrician Yu meets Joe, who is disguised as a middle-aged French petroleum engineer on a dating app. When her virtual romance is revealed to be an online scam, Yu insists that she is in love despite being swindled out of a huge sum of money. Ho Miu-ki, in her directorial debut, reflects on what ‘true love’ really means by way of a romantic comedy – love, once believed, is real.

It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.
Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
