As Good As It Gets
A Masterpiece!
When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
Vicky surely had a promising pitch it tells us the story of Victoire Bonhomme (Victoria Bedos), a 30-year-old girl wedged between an egocentric and conservative father (François Berléand), an unbearable brother (Jonathan Cohen) and a modern mother who is resigned to her boring life (Chantal Lauby). The film opens with a succession of demonstrative sequences that gives the film its notes of imbalance the narrative bogs down from its establishment by taking us to the heart of frankly embarrassing flashbacks between masturbation, coitus and discovery of the first pubic hair to the disastrous amorous and professional life of the protagonist. In brief a dispensable musical that tries to try things without ever giving a meaning to its whole what saves this movie is the music. The songs, written by Victoria Bedos are hilarious and catchy. Enjoy the songs.
