Reviews
Good concept, poorly executed.
I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
The award-winning "Transformers: The Ride - 3D" is an 11-minute ride just like the title says. It takes place in the universe of the very successful Transformers franchise and is a solid little add-on. The director is Thierry Coup who has come up with many theme park attractions. The most famous ones include Harry Potter mostly and also very recently "The Fast and the Furious". So, when he made this one almost 5 years ago, it was certainly no new territory for him. I probably only did not appreciate this one as much as I am not really into the Transformers movies. Actually I have only seen the first one and wasn't impressed enough to keep watching. Still, if you really like the franchise, you may want to check out this attraction.
Inspired by the outrageously fun Amazing Spider-Man, Transformers the Ride takes good pieces and puts together a squinting experience through a 4D simulation of mechanics on LSD. The box of hell in Universal Studios, could've been put to way better use with a batman or Indiana jones ride. It won't last and I don't know how people can walk out of it with stable eyes and direction. I needed an antidote in the of the Simpsons. The opposite. 2D experience, a stable seat, and smooth fun. The moment you are shot through that robots sunction mouth of hell, my eyes bled from the inside. Now I love universal more than anything, I could live there. It's 98% magic and 2% transformers. Trek to Harry Potter and let your imagination fume, but pass on the headache I'm still trying to recover. Get the message out. People need to know.
