It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

If one takes into account recent successes for Mexican cinema on international film festival scene, one would note that violent films have managed to make their presence felt. This is true about other cinemas of the world too. Comedy as a genre has always had tough time getting recognition in international film festivals. It is from this yardstick that 'One for the Road' can be viewed as a welcome change in Mexican cinema-a cinema whose name has become synonymous with blood and gore. At a time when almost all societies have lost the importance of 'old people' in their busy lives, a different kind of erratic movement of people is witnessed in One for the road / En El Ultimo Trago directed by Mexican director Jack Zagha Kakabie. In this film, it is with a lot of subtle humor that three old men brave all odds to honor the promise made to a dying friend. One does not find too many comedy films in the competition sections of international film festivals as it is believed that that space is perennially reserved for serious films. However, talking to film critic Mr.Lalit Rao (FIPRESCI) during an interview director Jack Zagha Kakabie acknowledged that comedy films are more difficult than serious films to make. His film come with a "100% laughs guaranteed" certificate as it has laughs, laughs, laughs and only laughs from start till the end. The virtue of this film lies in the depiction of some old people in Mexico through old actors who put a lot at stake in order to find about the true friend in one's life.
