Crime of a Beast
Assigned to track and apprehend a serial rapist, Inspector Wong (Chan Kwok-bong) tries to question the latest victim, psychiatrist / screenwriter (!) Mazy Hui (UN BAISER VOLE's Natalie Ng Man-yan, badly miscast), but she is too distraught to offer any leads. Flashbacks reveal her assailant to be Sin Ho-fun (Samuel Leung Cheuk-moon), a homely, put-upon crew member, whom Mazy tried to help via a free discussion session in her office. The paranoid and delusional Sin soon misinterprets one of her comments and, later that day, drugs and rapes the woman, the first in a series of assaults he perpetrates. Once she has recovered, Mazy and Wong join forces in order to apprehend Sin, who has now graduated to murder.

Thanks for the memories!
Please don't spend money on this.
Excellent, Without a doubt!!
The acting in this movie is really good.
This would be acceptable as a first project by kids who just got out of a film college, but it is unacceptable as a finished product for public exhibition. Half the time you feel as if you're watching a sick home movie; the other half you feel as if you're watching Asian MTV. As for the theory that criminals become criminals mostly because of a rough, traumatic childhood, it's certainly nothing that hasn't been explored in a million Hollywood movies. 0 out of 4 stars.
Crime of a beast can be identified as the usual Hong kong shocker...but´ this one had an extra edge to it...As usual its the shock element thats the most important one...but i would still say that there is more to this movie. Watch this one if u want to see something from a twisted mind at work.
"Crime of a Beast" is a terrible movie. It's lousily filmed (digital video), unbelievably boring and utterly trivial. It's the story of young Fun who starts raping and killing women. Well, we've definitely had a movie about that before. But the film makers also try to explain Funs actions by his terrible childhood and by the analysis of psychologist / rape victim Macy. It's this analysis (fortified by some sort of coda at the end that basically says "people need love so that they don't become killers") that makes this movie as ridiculous as it is. Why not do this as a sleazy trash movie? At least that could have been fun. But no, they try the Ed Wood approach. Remember "Glen or Glenda", where this guy sort of comments everything Glen/Glenda does and adds some psychological formula? That's what happens here. The result is one of the weakest Asian films I've seen in months. If I'd have to name one thing that I liked about this movie, I'd say that secretary of Macy's. She's a sweetheart. Still, the rating can only be a devastating1/10
