Just what I expected
hyped garbage
what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
Medieval times with Harvey Keitel as a super idiotic knight who is after the princess as his wife. Why he took this role is just speculation, money? Taken by what most think is a dragon the princess is finally released. There is a joust between Kietel and the alien, the alien loses and is bereft of his suit by the victor (Kietel). He dons the suit and goes on board the space ship with a priest. The ship takes off with them on board and heads out to who knows where. The alien is left naked on the ground where the princess finds him. They return to the castle, the alien flashes an aura that is interpreted as a halo and is thought to be a saint. Klaus Kinski is hilarious in his role as the scientific type.
Cunning medieval alchemist Boetius (a gloriously batty turn by the immortal Klaus Kinski) summons a spaceship that is mistaken by the local villagers as a dragon. After fair maiden Princess Alba (lovely Maria Lamor) disappears inside the spacecraft and falls for alien Ix (pasty-faced beanpole Miguel Bose), bumbling wannabe knight Klever (a hilariously miscast Harvey Keitel) vows to save her. Director Fernando Colomo, working from a hysterically goofy script by Andreu Martin and Miguel Angel Nieto, treats the daft premise like an extended Monty Python skit: The ridiculous story, wacky characters (the inept green knight who guards the bridge is an absolute riot!), cheerful sense of inane humor, and silly tongue-in-cheek tone all ensure that this incredibly campy and preposterous affair defies belief throughout. Keitel is a stitch as the hopelessly incompetent wannabe hero: Whether he's futilely struggling to keep his Brooklyn accent in check while spouting sub-Shakespearean dialogue, jousting on horseback with the alien, or attacking the spaceship with a mace, Harvey provides a wealth of belly laughs. Fernando Rey also has a ball as fidgety and superstitious bishop Fray Lupo. The deliciously dreadful dubbing rates as another prime source of unintentional guffaws. A truly unique and often uproarious one-of-a-kind kitschy curio.
I just watched star knight and the story is not bad, It's just the audio is badly out of sync. For a low budget movie this one is not bad i've seen worse ones. If this movie is ever re-released i hope they fix the audio problems. I like to watch low budget sci-fi movies mostly from the 80's. The acting in star knight is not bad. Plus i hope they make a sequel to star knight. And this movie is original as far as i know. I've been wanting to see this movie for a long time. On the web i've seen some pretty lousy reviews of this movie but i don't completely agree with them. To me i just like this movie. plan 9 from outer space is worser then star knight.
I saw this movie about 15 years ago, maybe more. Since the moment I saw it, I have been steady in saying that this is, in fact, the worst movie I have ever seen. And, I have seen a lot of crappy movies in my day, so this is saying a lot. I cannot believe anyone else has even seen this film; if you can even call it that.My father thought it was going to be a great film and boy was he ever wrong. Thank you Dad, for showing me what a truly bad movie is. I think that might be the reason this movie was made; to show everyone what a bad movie is.If you feel a strong desire to see this movie, I am not sure why you feel that way; therapy might be needed. Unless, of course, you want something to compare movies to in order to judge how bad they are.
