20 years ago two boys disappeared in the swimming pool at Hulgaard Elementary. Ever since children have been telling stories about a monster living at the bottom of the pool. A victim of all the school bullies, 11-year-old Lars, has written a love letter for the older girl Sherin. When Sherin’s boyfriend, the worst bad guy in school, finds the letter, he forces Lars to swim to the bottom of the pool to retrieve a shining coin. I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
