The music and the film take place just after death, at the moment when the Clear Light appears, as described in the Tibetan Book of the Dead. According to the book, if recognized, this Clear Light liberates the being from the cycle of reincarnations.

How sad is this?
what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
