It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
The story-telling is good with flashbacks.The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

Awesome watch. THE PERFECT MASALA MOVIE.One of the best comedy tracks of all time. Never bores to watch it a second time. Koundamani sets the screen on fire. Kamal at his best, and great supporting acts all round from all the actors. Combines to give a total comedy-action-love-sentiment movie which was to be the precursor of the movies of today. (which frankly are awful compared to this one).This movie's got heart. It never pretends to be what its not. It will genuinely lighten your mood and keep you in good spirits.Not to say, its got awesome music by Ilayaraaja. Sags a bit towards the end, but the makers have done a good job stitching together a senseless story which entertains the audience to date.
