A different way of telling a story

It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.

I had a prejudice for this movie like many others so didn't bother to watch it in theater last week a friend gave me this movie and to my surprise this movie was worth every second I spend watching it.Music is very melodious and pleasant.set made much to the point not mention the (schadenfreude) presented in every scene.Acting was done very well especially from Ritesh as I didn't think he could do so well and last but not the least the theme and story.A complete package of entertainment fun music and story.Loved it in all regards.I wonder why such movies don't get critical acclamation or better box office response in our country.Its a pity to see such movies not get its worth.I usually don't write reviews on internet but for this one I bothered to make a account in IMDb to write a review.A movie for everyone Especially all Indians.Great work ...and hats off..to the entire team of Bangistan..I hope to see more

Knew this movie from @iamsrk tweet in reply to @FarOutAkhtar. It has Riteish Desmukh (which is comedy guarantee).The idea was a bit weak, but they tried to make it less controversy. Maybe for some people its a good movie, but I'd be not. This movie has a good message (though I got the message long time ago) in terms of peace. But it also emphasizing one's religion to others, maybe Oh My God! told us better, but let's give the credit to Hafeez bin Ali, Praveen Chaturvedi, Imam and the Pandit-ji whom use iPad.Music a bit catchy. Hogi Kranti delivers some unique things to viewers (at least me) then credit tittle song can't be skipped though.Jacqueline Fernandez as special appearance did good, but not really help the case which Hafeez and Praveen has been through. Direction itself is a bit unstable, and the story itself should be developed into something funnier, mightier and so on.In short, Bangistan is a cheerful trying to make us laugh (yes it did, Riteish did well) and delivered mediocre message to us.

Some movies are made with the right intentions,Bangistan is one such film, the film had its heart in the right place. On paper the films story must have sounded amazing, extremely novel and different. But the execution is below average, and films pace is extremely slow. A comedic film on religion, a satire of such, ends up boring at times. A film which was supposed to be about how humanity, peace is above any religion ends up giving a muddled message due to amateurish direction by a former critic Karan Anushman, at least critics now know its not easy to make film, as easy as it is to write.The films story is about a fake state named Bangistan, its called that because of war between two halves of the state which are called North and South Bangistan. In the North live all the Muslims and in the South side all the Hindus. When the head Hindu and Muslim Priests of both sides come together to make a peace accord they want to present in the peace conference in Poland, ruckus is created on both sides. Therefore then both sides unknowingly make a similar plan of sending a hindu and Muslim suicide bomber to Poland to stop the accord. Does this plan go through or not, is what makes up the rest of this comedic satire. If you want to know more rush to the theatres.Acting wise Ritesh Desmukh and Pulkit Samrat do well in there roles, but the roles could have been written a little better,Others don't have much scope in the film.Bangistan is not a completely faulty film, there are a lot of of funny moments in the film. The whole spoof on mcdonalds, starbucks, call centres, making bombs etc are all innovative and funny .Many scenes raise laughs but there not enough for a comedy. One thing that stands out is the films locations, and production values, the screen always looks pleasing to look at, Poland seems beautiful.Overall when I watched the films trailer a couple of months ago i had huge expectations, the film left me disappointed. But if you can take one thing away from the film it is humanity is above all. And the climax is actually well done, it might even make a tear or two flow down.2.5/5* (.5 more for the climax) or 5/10

Handling satire on current social, political and religious sentiments is never an easy job, at least not as easy as reviewing (bashing; in other word) other's films. With BANGISTAN, noted film critic Karan Anshuman sneaks into the other side of the business now where he's all open to face the shots he's been taking at till now. And I stand in full salutation for him choosing a subject which is more than relevant in today's times.We desperately need to develop our abilities to laugh at some of the most serious issues in our lives. Satires act like catalysts in trial of that exercise. Sadly, BANGISTAN promises a lot on that front but misses the target by large. Some serious smart writing, sincere efforts and unambiguous intention are all you need and not a buffoonery plot, chaotic climax and pretentious performances to save the day. Here Mr Critic disregards what he's been preaching all his life.The film finds its base in a fictional land where two religious radical groups are at warfare to gain supremacy. You don't need those visible hints to guess that we are looking at our popular Hindu-Muslim extremists. Smartly, both the group heads are being played on screen by the same actor (the dependable Kumud Mishra in double role). Two sides of the same coin? Get it? Meanwhile, there are Shankaracharya (Shiv Subramanium) and Imam Saab (Tom Alter) secretly working towards peace, love and harmony between the two communities.Now, the radicals are planning to make a big shout at the international religious summit to be held in somewhere in Poland. The hardcore half wits chosen to bomb the Peace convention are Praveen Chaturvedi (Pulkit Samrat) and Hafiz Bin Ali (Riteish Deshmukh).BANGISTAN starts with a bang and showers hints of satire in almost every scene, dialogue and frame but runs out of impressive ideas and additions soon after the successful take-off. The Islamic extremists are seen cursing America's policies against them sitting in an American fast food joint named FcDonalds. Well and good! The two chosen activists with switched religious identities and orientations for a fool-proof operation fights for each other's religious convictions is too quite exciting but soon, it gets stretched over its limits.And then comes, the all preachy, pretentious and predictable climax where all this 'laugh and think, and laugh again' satirical efforts ends in the melodramatic way of finishing it off so that you can go home and not die there.Another big letdowns are the performances; Riteish Deshmukh is some relief and considerably 'at it' for the most parts. Pulkit Samrat doesn't even try to get out of the impression that he is acting only to impress or imitate Salman Khan. Jacqueline Fernandez is credited here as 'in a special appearance' and that doesn't mean she is doing anything special to the film. Chandan Roy Sanyal is good. Aarya Babbar is funny at places. Veterans Kumud Mishra, Shiv Subramanium and Tom Alter don't disappoint, though are there only for few scenes.At best, BANGISTAN is one of those incalculable films in which good cinematography, better production design and scenic locations lure you to stay idle in your seats till the lights go on.Otherwise; even in its 2 hours of modest duration, there are times when you start questioning your sense of judgment about the film, and not about the extreme religious sentiments the film supposed to hit on.
