Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

A story that's too fascinating to pass by...

It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

Ok, so yes, this is a low budget film and it comes across that way, BUT this is a really touching story! If you are someone looking for a story about the real meaning of Christmas, then watch this. Yes, there is some bad acting, some good acting too, which unfortunately causes the bad acting to stick out like a sore thumb. I knew based on the reviews what I was getting into, and once I was able to get past these issues, I was really touched by the film, and even had tears in the end. Had there been a bigger budget with some expertise, this could have turned into a great film. What a shame.

I watched this on Hulu, as it had a good rating. The movie has horrible acting and a bad script. This was probably one of the worse movies I've seen. It seemed like a church got together and auditioned members to be in this movie. The characters were very one dimensional and the acting was really bad. No one talks like that, argues like that. The people were very corny, I think the only one that did a good job would be the person that was getting them approved for food stamps. If your looking for a Christmas movie any other movie would do.

This was a cute and wholesome movie with a good moral.However, the acting was a bit rehearsed...as in never left dress rehearsal. I did read that the whole budget was only $20,000 and the acting was done for free...so in that regards I guess it was not bad. Here is my gripe....I could never suspend disbelief during the movie. It kept me from connecting to the movie, it's characters, and even the message to a degree.Picture this...you lose your job...your utilities are being disconnected, you can't feed your family and must apply for food stamps...yet you drive 2 newer cars and have a baby grand sitting in your living room...picture this...you are going to lose your home in 5 days...you have snowball fights and cookouts and are willing to spend you last $40 on a dinner out (who needs gas in your only remaining vehicle?!). I'm sorry, I just couldn't get past it. Why not sell some stuff to get by? Anything is better than nothing when you are about to lose it all.So, yes, good overall moral message...but I do not see how people gave this movie 10 stars. I give it 5. It was OK, but it just made me angry at times. I couldn't suspend disbelief to connect to the movie very well.

On this fine Sunday I was all set to go see another movie when my wife told me about this one. I checked out the reviews and noticed that in a few cities the movie had gotten sold out. I thought to myself that since this movie was only playing in Grand Rapids for one week that I better go see this one before it slips away. Actually, I had gone more for my wife's sake since she knew a couple of people in the movie. I did not really think I would be into the movie due to that I am usually into action flicks which generally contain words of less than a kind nature. After a few minutes of getting into this movie, I was already getting quite interested. I was glad that my wife had suggested it. It shows how corporate greed can turn a well to do family into a world of desperation quite suddenly. It also teaches some good Christian principals of be kind and give unto others and the good Lord will take care of you as well. My favorite word in life is BELIEVE. This word truly describes the essence of this movie. Not wanting to go into detail of the movie to take away your fun, I am going to end this with a very positive note. I RARELY see a movie twice since there are SO many to choose from. We definitely will see this one again and most likely buy the DVD when it comes out. Thank you very much George for giving the world this great motivating film.
