It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

In her iconic sailor-style uniform, the Japanese schoolgirl has long been a common fantasy figure for middle-aged businessmen from 'the land of the rising sun' (so much so, that public vending machines once dispensed used schoolgirl panties along Japan's major commuter routes!). Raw Summer deals with one such pervy bloke, an unattractive, podgy, balding loser named Masuo (Yutaka Mishima), who allows his fantasy to become reality when he takes his unhealthy infatuation with Anko (Sola Aoi), the beautiful schoolgirl with whom he shares a train every morning, to the next disturbing level.Given the touchy subject matter, I fully expected Raw Summer to be an out-and-out piece of deviant Pinku filth; instead, director Keisuke Yoshida delivers a surprisingly thoughtful, sometimes tender, and only occasionally shocking study of obsession. The film moves at a fairly sedate pace, but never bores thanks to its economic 56 minute running time and an unpredictable plot-turn midway; it also leaves the viewer thinking with a surprise twist ending that reminded me of that old Twilight Zone episode 'An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge'.

A man has unhealthy obsession about a high school girl and stalks her. You get to see one of a kind worst behavior from this man throughout the entire movie. The fail of this movie is that the guy is not interesting, but just vulgar. This kills the intrigue of this movie immediately. I've seen Simon Yam ( a very famous Hong Kong actor) play a maniac that's infatuated with a girl, but he never appeared vulgar which is a testament to his great talent as an actor. Unfortunately, no such talent pool was visible in this movie for the actor, director, and the screen writer.Classy movies were scarce between 2001 - 2005, and this movie seems to falls in this category.I ended up watching this movie, but it was one of the few movies I've regretted seeing. Not recommended by any means, and best stay away from it.

Anyone even casually familiar with Japanese genre films (or anime or manga)knows that they seem to have a kind of national fetish with school uniforms and the young girls that wear them. Most of these films are content to simply wallow in this particular fetish, but some like "Bounce Ko-gals" look at the more serious repercussions for the real-life teenage objects of this fetish. This movie falls somewhere between exploitation and serious drama. On one hand, it's a serious story about a socially-maladjusted Japanese salary-man (he is not really "middle-aged' like the synopsis says, but kind of older young adult who still lives at home with his family) who becomes obsessed with a schoolgirl he sees riding the subway every morning. However, the "schoolgirl" here is played by Japanese adult video starlet Aoi Sorya and the movie certainly spends a lot more time than necessary looking up the skirts of her and her equally mature-looking friend. But Sorya does give a pretty good performance and is fairly believable as a younger character. This movie certainly doesn't glamorize stalkers. The guy is quite unattractive and pitiful, and he resorts to increasingly desperate (and ultimately violent) measures to get close to the object of his affection. The movie takes an ironic, if pretty implausible, twist a little more than halfway through, and then takes yet another more surreal and ambiguous twist at the very end. There's some humor, which may or may not be intentional (it's kind of hard to tell), such as when the guy steals the girl's bicycle seat or dresses himself up in a schoolgirl outfit. It's certainly not very erotic aside from an occasional glimpses of Sorya's cute little butt, which you could obviously see a lot more of in her AV work. (By the way, I don't claim that dressing adult porn stars up in schoolgirl outfits is exactly healthy, but I don't think it will cause any otherwise normal people to run slobbering down to the local schoolyard either).I'm not sure who to recommend this movie to. People expecting a serious drama like "Bounce Ko-gals" might be put off by the more exploitative elements and the fact that it's told from the POV of the unappealing male stalker. On the other hand, people who want to see these porn stars actually take off their uniforms might be put off by the depressing tone and relative dearth of this kind of exploitation. Nevertheless it is a kind interesting movie.
