A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.

No...Beyond The Call is a life affirming documentary about three middle aged men (some of which are Viet Nam veterans)who decide to help out victims of war torn countries. We see them assisting aid to those who have been handed the s**t end of the stick for far too long (and always manage to be just outside the range of government assistance programs). From being just a few steps beyond the Taliban in war torn Afghanastan in 2001 to assisting victims of Burmese soldiers in northern Thailand, this film will leave a lump in your throat over their continuing service to humanity (with little or no self glory for themselves, outside of the look on the faces of those they've helped). I'm guessing distribution will be somewhat limited, due to the fact that it's shot on video tape, rather than standard 35mm film stock, but will probably be a staple in film & video festivals.

This film was life changing. It makes you feel how important it is to not waste and do whatever you can to help those less fortunate than yourself.Congratulations to all involved for a marvelous experience.I hope that the director will be doing similar work. If anyone knows about any of his other films, please let me know.Does anyone know where you can send your money to support the cause of these 3 fine humanitarians? The work that they are doing is too important not to give out the information to the public if they wish to assist.

I saw this film at Studio 620 via the Ironweedsfilm.com organization. The documentary covers three U.S. Veterans who have taken it upon themselves to help the poor and downtrodden in some of the most out of the way places on Earth. They fly to war torn 3rd World Nations and provide food, medicine, shelter and whatever else they can for people in need. This is a very important film for EVERYONE to see and experience. Three men in their 50's changing the World one village at a time. They seem to be doing more good than half of the governments that you can name. The film is well put together and the dialog provided by the three men is priceless.I'm not "religious" but these people are doing God's work. That is why I call them, "Soldiers of the Light." Ironically one of the things that they are against is providing aid with religion attached to it. They provide aid with NO strings attached. Great film, great story, great Men.

Beyond the Call is a wonderful, heartfelt documentary about three older gentlemen who risk their lives in the name of adventure and altruism. It is a wakeup call for those of us content to believe that most charities are simply doing everything they can with the money we give them. Just 20 minutes into the film we begin to comprehend the sad truth - there are many places that standard humanitarian organizations just won't reach. The money just doesn't make it there, for a variety of reasons. The three men featured in the film, Ed Artis, Jim Laws and Walt Ratterman, are modern knights who are among the few that serve to actively aid these untouchable areas, most surprisingly without the intention to change the beliefs of their people in any way.The power of Beyond the Call comes from the contrast of these men as people (all very quirky, strong-willed, and highly unusual characters), and as a cause. It's both amusing and very touching to see a bunch of good old military boys helping people out in the most dire of circumstances. It drives home the point that anyone can make a difference, should they devote themselves to it.Adrian Belic has crafted an emotional, entertaining, and important film that could very well change the way the world thinks about humanitarian aid, should each and every person sit down to watch it.
