Best movie of this year hands down!
Too much of everything
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Found in particular bad taste the interjection of cheesy and sexually suggestive condom video and cheesy clip of man unzipping pants. These were apparently meant to be funny, but were not. Also, use of "japanimation" or "anime" styled anime complete with anime "voices" was really not quite right, especially considering the particular voice used. Also, interjection of video clip from "kung fu chopsocky" flick with English dub-over (apparently) was out of place. And the use of apparently historical propaganda posters mixed in with apparently real photos and current video, all without explanation made it seem sometimes that the girls who were enslaved somehow enjoyed their time in the comfort stations. Finally, I'd like to say that there is nothing wrong with making a straight-up serious documentary, especially when the topic is war and sex slavery. Why can we not simply be serious without being "entertaining" or "ironic" or just too clever for our own good? My name is Irwin Tang, and I am a writer/author living in Austin, Texas.
