Reviews
Highly Overrated But Still Good
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Summer 2002, the Palestinian filmmaker Michel Khleifi and the Israeli filmmaker Eyal Sivan set off on a cinematographic journey in their country, Palestine-Israel. All those who cross their path are given voice, men and women, Israelis and Palestinians, young and old; captured in the ordinariness of their daily life. An excellent documentary that reveals the real story of what is happening in Palestine told by real people from both sides. Skilfully shot and edited, I strongly recommend this film for anybody who is interested in this topic. * Films by Michel Khleifi: Fertile Memory (1980), Wedding In Galilee (1987), Canticle of the Stones (1990),Tale of the Three Jewels (1995), Forbidden Marriages in the Holy Land (1995)Other films that you might be interested in viewing in relation to this topic are: Documentaries: ( "Jenin Jenin" by Mohamed Bakri, "Al-Sabbar" (Cactus)by Patrick Bürge, "Peace, Propaganda & The Promised Land" by Bathsheba Ratzkoff & Sut Jhally, "Checkpoint" by Tom Wright and Therese Saliba, "Collecting Stories From Exile: Chicago Palestinians Remember 1948" by Jennifer Bing-Canar, "Gaza Ghetto: Portrait of a Palestinian Family" by PeA Holmquist, Joan Mandell, and Pierre Bjorklund, "Water Wars: Struggle in the Holy Land" by Iain Taylor)Feature films: Rana's Wedding ( Hani Abu-Assad) Divine Intervention (Elia Suleiman) Chronicle of a Disappearance (Elia Suleiman) Milky Way, The (Ali Nassar)
