Sadly Over-hyped
I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
You can have good actors, a great crew working on the movie and more than enough money to do the things you want to but when you have a bad script it all ends and a movie just can not work out."Blood Crime" has a bad written script. Well, perhaps bad is not the most correct word to use since the story is more just an highly unlikely one. You just never get sucked into it because it all and the way the story progresses seem so highly unlikely. You can say that I even was a bit annoyed by the movie its story at times. It isn't credible and has some gaping plot-holes. Seriously, when your name is Preston A. Whitmore II you should be writing some better movies than this.Because the story isn't much good basically nothing really ever works out in the movie. Sure the movie has James Caan in it but this really doesn't make this movie any more good or interesting to watch. You movie you can really easily do without.4/10http://bobafett1138.blogspot.com/
It was exactly what I expected. Nothing more nothing less. A decent script turned into a decent movie. That's ok with me. I've had fun watching it. The storyline is good, with no exaggerations, and the atmosphere is quite tense. So, I think it is a movie that may not be remembered, but on the other hand it's a movie that delivers what it promises.
I enjoyed this TV movie, but something about it kept irritating the heck out of me. Not enough to make me quit watching, though. This is one of those movies made with American stars in New Zealand or Australia, but the action is supposed to be taking place somewhere in the United States. In this movie, it's the American Northwest. However, the rest of the cast are actors from New Zealand or Australia, so they have to fake an American accent. Some actors are better at this than others.Often the faked American accent fails when the actor is required to yell a line. Whatever, it's really, really distracting.Just a complaint, that's all. As I said, I enjoyed this movie nevertheless.
We all pretty much know what to expect from these Movies of the Week, yet this one stands out as a nicely executed, taught suspense thriller. Some plot holes are there but are more then made up for by gritty, top notch performances by the ageless, amazing James Caan and the smoldering Jonathan Shaech. The story itself presents a fascinating conundrum: A young homicide detective flees the big city with his wife in search of a better life. After making the move, the wife is brutally assaulted on the same night that the son of the local sheriff is killed. As the wife had previously alleged that this was the man that attacked her, the detective finds himself at the center of a small town conspiracy. The local cop and the big city detective are then forced to find the perpetrators together.Kudos to the writer Miller for both his keen sense of suspense which always keeps us guessing and his on screen dialogue which absolutely crackles. Stay tuned for the bone crushing ending...Overall, a fun thriller and a slick MOW suspenser...
