Simply Perfect
Absolutely the worst movie.
Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
Ram Gopal Varma and Manohar Bhandarkar have to save the Hindi Cinema from these Three Idiots from Filthystan. These scum suvvar rats who are put up on a pedestal by the Mumbai Media who are also from Filthystan. The Rat who looks like a shrunk prune wearing a designer armor is an ugly suvvar scum who has spent the money from the poor on outside India and this lowlife should be put in the same cell as Kasab. Then we have the midget who makes Anti Indian movies. Then we have the ape who has jello for brain. Looks like these three were released from some zoo in Filthystan. These maderchat benchods should be cleaning the toilet of RGV. The three scums should be kicked back to sewer them came from before they pollute the Indian cinema. The movie is well made with the behind scene look at the Media which is the most corrupt since most of the suvvar rats are fed by the Three Idiots and so only movies are recommended. These benchods have not integrity or morals as in the two sons here. The movie has some good acting by Bachchan and few others. This is not the best movie from Varma but there are some tell tale signs of his stamp.
This is a great movie ! I was hesitant to see this movie because of Ram Gopal Verma's recent flops due to which I thought he lost the knack on making a good movie. This is definitely one of the best movies I saw. Those who are looking for a sensible and realistic movie to watch then this is it.If you are looking for songs, dances and bollywood masala then you may not find it here. This movie is an eye opener and exposes the present mindset of news channels - news has become a sort of a drama (a sansanati khabar) to make money than really to provide news. No wonder all the media people have given this movie a bad review and rating. Do not go by such bad reviews and ratings.I will give it a honest 8 !!
Ram Gopal Varma is a proficient filmmaker, films like 'Satya' 'Sarkar' & 'Jungle' have gone down as true Cult-Classics. But, for a long, long time he has been wasting his time in crappy & shitty films. 'Aag', 'Nishabad' & 'Darling' were resounding duds. I as a fan of his at a time, I gave up on him! But his latest offering 'RANN' has made me curious after a long hiatus. 'RANN' is a interesting fare, with RGV's direction deserving a clap. Rohit G. Banawilkar's writing is intelligent. 'RANN' however, despite the merits, caters to a very tiny section of audience, it's strictly not meant for those who worship escapist cinema... it's for the 'I Love Serious, Intense Cinema' chaps... unfortunately that section of audience over-here is as good as nil. RGV exposes the media industry in 'RANN'. It has good twists and turns, and gripping second hour. But 'RANN' is not without it's share of minuses, the film actually takes off in the second hour when the scandal comes all over. The first hour is more on introducing characters & their motives. RGV could've have easily started the engine much before interval, there is a possibility you might lose patience in the first 60-minutes. But guys, the second hour makes up for it. The climax, also, is well-done.Coming to the acting department, Bachchan delivers a restrained performance. Sudeep is the life of the show. Playing a arrogant mind with amazing understanding & ease. Paresh Rawal is outstanding, as freaking always. What an actor! Ritesh is okay. Rajat Kapoor is excellent. Mohnish Behl is exceptional. He excels in a meaty role. Rajpal provides a few laughs. Gul is wasted, ditto for Neetu Chandra. Suchitra, seen in a film after a long gap, is fantastic. Bottom-Line: 'RANN' is amongst RGV's better films. It deserved to do better at the box office, it didn't. Now, give the due it deserves.
This is my first review for any movie and I am writing it in response to all those people who blindly criticize movies just for the sake of criticism. I have been waiting for the release of this movie for the last 2 months, because the trailers for this movie were really great (which is something unexpected for a Bollywood movie). And the movie justified my wait. I am not much of a fan of Bollywood, but this movie was totally worth the wait and worth every paisa of the Rs. 175 I spent to see it @ PVR Cinemas. The predictability of the movie (something that a few people criticized and something that some may feel is a spoiler) was the beauty of the movie - RGV made sure the movie ended on expected lines. He didn't show us anything that we did not know - he just presented it in a very compelling way that makes us sit up and notice. The music was really appropriate. The first half of the movie gives you a feel of Madhur Bhandarkar's "Fashion" in it's pace. The second half of the movie is a bit slow, but the ending justified the pace. This has to be the the second best role of Amitabh Bachchan in the last 15 years (after his role in Sarkar). Mohnish Behl was exceptional and it was nice to see him get a role that only he could have justified. Paresh Rawal and Sudeep also played good supporting roles. Ritesh Deshmukh has finally found a serious role that suits him well :) His acting skills may have be panned by many, but he did justice to his role in the movie. Rajat Kapoor was great as usual in his small, but significant role.Don't watch this movie if you want to be entertained or get enlightened. See it to reinforce your distrust in the media, to think once more about what is right and what is wrong, to question your own judgment and to watch Amitabh Bachchan deliver another sound performance.Varun Reddy.http://www.varunreddylive.com
