Nice effects though.
An Exercise In Nonsense
The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.
It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.
I watched this film, because as a lover of spoof films, it became a must see. Having sat through all of it, and there were times I just felt like turning the channel over, it is one of the worst spoof films ever. The fact there is a sequel, must mean someone has too much money to spare, they would be better giving it to a charity and apologising for the first one. It is an absolutely awful film, trying to find anything positive to say about it is hard in itself. Kate Soulsby is pretty and that's about it. As far as the rest of the cast goes, it looks like a student production where they have been given a hundred quid and told to get on with it. If the crude language used throughout the film is supposed to shock it fails miserably, as to shock is to take by surprise, this does the exact opposite and after five minutes of listening the vulgarities become unnoticed. The humour is of the standard of a b grade 'Carry On 'movie. As a supposed spoof of the Zombie genre of film it fails on all counts, there is little plot and poor acting. But where it fails most of all it isn't funny. Put on 'Dracula dead and loving it' and get your life back on track.
Wolfenden19 needs his/her head examined just in case he/she has had a humour bypass. "No redeeming features whatsoever"?!!! "Jokes not in the least bit funny"!!? Zeus taking a crap in the woods was hilarious and,"You can only come in if you've stopped being a Zombie".... There were loads of hilarious one liners and visual gags. It WAS made on a shoestring, most of the actors were amateurs and in my opinion it's one of the funniest, tongue-in-cheek zombie films I've ever seen. Blood oozed out of places that blood never usually oozes out of. 'Mother' was brilliant, as were 'Pervo' and the gorgeous zombie women. Humour, boobs, gore . . what more could you wish for!
This movie is getting a lot of bad reviews here. Well, flog me if you want but I enjoyed it! I usually don't mind watching topless zombies dripping with blood chasing potential victims. If you might enjoy that, there is an awful lot of it in this film. The Boo Birds who don't like this film say the females aren't that attractive, or are fat. Splitting hairs, aren't we? After all, we are talking about topless women here; do we really need to analyze why they are topless or how hot they are? There is a lot of criticism of the scene where Zeus takes a dump in the woods - it is gross, it goes on too long, etc. What? How long is too long when a midget is taking a dump in the woods? Step back and realize that the scene shows a midget carnival strong man taking a prolonged plop in the woods for absolutely no reason - the scene does not further the plot one iota! Add to that the fart sounds and the facial contortions, and I admit that I laughed more than once. Yes, this is a bizarre flick, but it was amusing and not nearly as bad as some of these reviews would have you believe. If you like bare breasts, carnival sideshows, mad scientists and scatological humor then this movie is for you!
A synopsis is fairly pointless - suffice it to say that if you have clocked the title, you should have a reasonable idea of what this (very) low budget British horror film is going to offer you.I suggest you don't take the offer. I did, and I regret it. The plot is perfunctory. The acting seems to consist of shouting. Most of the characters are badly conceived and executed even worse. The nudity is very unappealing. The sex is even worse. The humour which is intended to be present isn't. The special effects are non-existent. The gore is liberal and, if that - and that alone - is your thing, the film may have something to offer you.The script is peppered with the F word. Yes I know it is an 18 certificate, and I have no objection to the word itself, but I once more make a point I have made numerous times before - make the language in a script/book/whatever serve you. Making every other word an obscenity, for no purpose, makes your script worse, not better. This is a cheap, bad film. Not the first, not the last. But it is one of the sad ones because, every now and then, you get the whiff of the shadow of the ghost of the rather better film this might have been. Not to the extent that I recommend seeing it, though.
