One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

The title of this horror apparently translates to "Air-conditioning-duct Ghost." Good times! Unfortunately, the American release is simply called "The Sisters." How appropriately dull.So what we have here is a young rock band (though you never get to hear their music) who are on their way home and stop at a hotel to stay overnight. One of the band members notices a piece of fabric hanging from the, uh, air-conditioning-duct in the ceiling, and this leads to the discovery of a horrible curse by the ghost of the dead prozzy that has taken up residence in the AC. The kids find out that death is imminent, so they seek help from a Buddhist monk, who tells them if they sleep in coffins, they'll be fine. What? Did something get lost in translation there? This movie isn't as terrible as some of these plot points make it sound. It does borrow (rather heavily) from popular Asian horror films like "Ju On" and "A Tale of Two Sisters," but it is much simpler than either of those movies. While the use of the "scary woman" and "creepy child" ghosts are a direct ripoff, they are given more screen time here and are more effectively creepy. Also, there is more violence and blood in this one than the recent influx of Asian supernatural stories. "Pee Chong Air" is like your typical Asian ghost story on speed. Another aspect worth mentioning is the fantastic use of color, especially in the eerie hotel room, that is clearly influenced by Ji-woon Kim's recent films. "Pee Chong Air" has much going for it, and I'd be willing to forgive the fact that the movie is about an AC-Ghost, or that pretending to be dead is one the suggested cures for a curse. Unfortunately, the conclusion of the film makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and seemed tacked on because the filmmakers had no idea how to end it.

A group of teenage rock musicians-five boys and one girl-arrive in Bangkok for a concert. They end up staying in a strange hotel room where eerie things begin to occur. When it starts to get hot in the Room 409,they remove the ceiling vent. Each person who looks up into the duct suddenly flees.Turns out that they all see the ghost of a Tulip hotel prostitute that was brutally beaten and killed in Room 409.She was even decapitated, and the police found her head in the air conditioning system. Each of the musicians is cursed and some of them will die..."The Sisters" is hardly original. It borrows heavily from "Ringu" and "Ju-on" and what's is even more interesting it features some obvious nods to "Suspiria".However the film is actually pretty creepy and offers a little bit of gore.Give it a chance.

After watching many Asian horror films I am finally getting used to the genre. The Thai films are amongst the best for creepy, twisted tales with some erotic content. "Sisters" certainly filled that promise admirably. The story is told in flashback form, which some would say breaks the suspense. I find the return to supposed safety of the "present" a welcome relief between scenes of terror. While flashback form can be a little jarring at first, once I got used to the film's pace, I was not bothered by the shifts. There are elements of "The Ring" in this, but that just may be an eastern cultural similarity, coupled with what you can do with limited funds and a camera. Like many other Thai horror films, this one does not strive to be funny nor seek redemption. One other blessing -- "The Sisters" is dubbed in English. Being able to listen rather than read greatly added to my enjoyment of the film.

A quick sum up on the plot I watched it as The Sisters.A prostitute is killed in an hotel room her head was chopped off and left in the air conditioning unit.some months later a rock band spend the night in the room, only to find the spirit of the woman still in the room. Each member of the band afterwards meet grisly ends.Asian cinema as caught onto the US trend of teen horror recently this one being very Ju-on crossed with Evil Dead Trap feeling and is well enough made, but as all the other ghost j-horrors these days you'll not find anything new in it.That said its well worth a casual view probably best saved for a rainy night when you'd be stuck in watching poor TV anyway,a couple of nice set pieces will keep most horror fans happy enough.I loved the green tint used in the hotel Dario Argento used to use flushes of colour like this in his 70s thrillers. It coulda been a contender instead of a bargain bin buy I give it an average [5 out of 10] good effort but there's far better films like this around.
