Can't understand all these rave reviews. This was as bad as a movie gets - bad acting, stupid story, badly scripted, made no sense. It's like the writer had no understanding of biology at all.It sounded like such a good twist on the Frankenstein story that I felt I had to watch it. I think I could have written a better story. At least one that made some sense.I guess I've said enough. Big waste of time. Must be getting great reviews from the cast.It started out bad and never got better, just worse.Since I put in a spoiler alert, I'll give a brief synopsis. Lady scientist wants to reanimate life, buys a warehouse and while working at a morgue brings home dead bodies. Finally makes a man. Teaches him to eat, talk, play piano, dance and make love to her.Suddenly, for some reason, it turns out he can only eat live meat, so she starts feeding him live rats, then people she kills. Very gory and bloody in parts. I won't go any further. Very stupid ending. Not scary, just a total gore fest if you like that sort of thing.

Going beyond the basic framework of the Frankenstein story, CORPSING is a smart horror film that both entertains and poses questions about science, psychology, and the horror genre. Taking the basic corpse-building and reanimation theme of Frankenstein, Jeff Monahan's film substitutes a female scientist, raising questions about the masculine nature of science which are similar to those raised in Shelley's novel. Throughout the movie, it isn't clear how much control Shelly (the evocatively named Frankenstein figure) has over her scientific experiment, her own mental condition, and her physical impulses (especially hunger and sexuality). Building from and beyond Shelley's Frankenstein, Monahan's film pushes viewers to rethink their assumptions and expectations of the horror genre.

Corpsing: If the stories of Frankenstein and Pygmalion had a gory love child, this would be it. The movie is full of twists; they're smart, sexy, scary, and horrifying. When a brilliant but disgraced medical researcher tries to control – and make – life, endings become beginnings and the price of sustenance is steep. The "creepy" factor is huge. Corpsing presents a mix of "what if," gruesome needs, romance, and obsession that sets the stage for a frightening question: what constitutes life and who has a right to it? You'll never go bar hopping again after seeing Shelly at work. Get your own ride home. Don't make her angry. And stick around for the closing line.

I saw the movie last night over at the Hollywood Theater. Fantastic work all way around. I was especially taken in by how well-written the script was and how involving the characters were--when Thomas said: "I'm a ghost" that was sad/chilling at the same time, which is something that's hard to pull off. And the dance sequences were about as macabre and beautiful as horror can get. Sometimes there can be great beauty in horror and it's been a long time since I've seen anyone go that way. A film like CORPSING really elevates the genre--I can see why it's doing so well. The two main actors, Jeff Monahan and Joanna Lowe played their roles earnestly and with passion--you could tell that they were always "in the moment" and their characters cared for each other deeply--which was also freaky at times! The soundtrack was effective as was the lighting and use of black and white sequences.
