Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.

The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.

I was confused because I thought this movie was going to be longer. It started off like it was a horror anthology series, so surely there would be more stories. Instead, all we got was one idiotic story with a host at the beginning and end. What is the point in this? There is only one story. This movie has barely anything important happening at all. This would have been the same if it was just an episode of a TV show. Too much of this seems like filler and it's only an hour long! Were there supposed to be jokes in this? It certainly failed at comedy in every sense of the word. The plot features college students who are training to become surgeons. One body is referred to as "John Doe" and is wearing a ring. Someone is dared to look at the body and that's all the plot this movie has. The worst part is the end where the pacing is excruciatingly slow. There's no point in any of this. There's a scene where a guy dies and it has absolutely nothing to do with the plot. I guess it was left up to the audience whether it was magic or mundane. Who cares? This is an absolutely awful film that's stupid, boring, pointless, and unentertaining in every single way. If this had more votes, it would be on the IMDb Bottom 10! 1/2

Forty-something 'college' medical undergraduate (Mather) is afraid of the dark, but fearless when it comes to observing autopsies or dispatching rattle snakes. So his fraternity initiation dare is to break into the mausoleum and retrieve the ring from the finger of a corpse. There's about 20 minutes of storyline padded out to 70 minutes as the audience endures a beauty contest, a musical dance routine and a pair of fatties gorging themselves first on soda, then ice cream, then hot dogs and lecturing us on the importance of treating people well regardless of their apparent obesity. If you can brook movies where nothing happens, then "Ring of Terror" will be right up your alley. No suspense, no horror, no chills unless you count the cat screeching after the on-screen narrator steps on its tail. The cat's name is "Puma" and that's fairly indicative of the ruse for which "Ring of Terror" (emphasis on "terror") is guilty in its false pretense.Perhaps the only notable aspect of this movie is that the sound editing was done by future Academy Award winning editor Verna Fields (for "Jaws"). So at least you could say that the sound was well done. The only thing terrifying or grotesque is the sight of the two chubbies making out while inhaling hot dogs, each biting the bun from one end, invariably meeting in the middle to continue their canoodling in earnest; the rest is mere bin juice from the trash video can.

Life must have been very, very tough in the early 1960s, as the college students in this film look older than me in many cases--and I'm 45! In addition, the 'students' talk very much like a square adult's idea of what 'those crazy kids' should sound like! Frankly, it was a bit embarrassing seeing these middle-aged folks cavorting about and acting like Archie, Jughead and the gang! The focus for this film is on the medical students (most of which look like they will be collecting social security benefits very, very soon). The class is beginning their work on cadavers and they are naturally far from excited about this--except for Moffitt who seems to enjoy the whole thing. As far as the plot goes, I think my daughter summed it up best near the end of the film when she yelled out "can SOMETHING interesting happen soon?!". The answer, sadly, was NO--at least not until 53 minutes into the film! The film just meanders and is boring beyond belief....and occasionally offensive (such as during the beauty(??) pageant). At the 53 minute mark, there is very bad recreation of an old urban legend about the cemetery and the grave site---but, frankly, at this point in the film, who cares?! Overall, a really dull dud...and nothing happens to justify watching any of this schlocky film.

No, this movie is not a ghost story that predates Japanese horror movies and is in fact their influence. Also, no to this movie being about organized crime or a street gang terrorizing the streets of Chicago. It is neither of those, in fact there is very little to this movie at all. The story has a caretaker of a cemetery walking through a graveyard looking for something that turns out to be his cat Puma. Yes, this is a rather long little sequence no doubt stretched out for so long because the movie is in need of a little padding. The caretaker stumbles on a grave of a man and the story shifts to this man and his days at college. Yes you are now into the meat of the story, a group of college kids (well more like college old guys) in medical school trying to join a fraternity and see the autopsy of an actual deceased individual. The main character focused on is a man who seems all right for the most part, except for the fact he is seemingly without fear. Yes, he is not afraid of random rattle snakes that somehow get into a car or whatever. Well the story finds our intrepid students at places called cafeteria where the band plays without any emotion and sometimes without the instrument in their mouths and they laugh at fat people dancing all the night long. They also view a rather gruesome autopsy where you see nothing, but the guy performing the autopsy, his skeleton, the clock, and the students. So I guess you see everything, but the body. Then you see hazing at its most unfair as some students must walk down a street asking for pennies while others must steal rings off of corpses. Yeah, that seemed really unfair to me. Then you get to see the caretaker wrap up this rather pointless, albeit, short movie. Upon watching this flick you will wonder, why the heck were those girls upset at the guys? They had to see the autopsy, I mean geez what do they expect the guys are trying to be doctors.
