It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

The title says it all. There is no need for a 3D found footage movie and this movie showed exactly why. Lousy ending jumpscare put the cherry on top of a straight to dvd movie.

I saw the 2D version but any film must be told by the story, not the 3D gimmick. The cast is fine, the acting is fine. The problem is there is really no script. While everyone talks about making a GREAT FF film, they have no original idea. The script/story takes place in a cabin. Um, what? They think filming in 3D will make all the difference...but there is ZERO effort on their part to use the silly 3D gimmicks. You never hear or see them trying to make 3D scenes; throwing or poking stuff at the camera. It's so odd because that would have been fun/funny to see.Instead, there is some bad, splotchy CGI of a black ink stain wandering around. There is no backstory every given about this particular haunted cabin other than a guy killed his wife and left the body in the lake...or was that in the script? Regardless, it's never mentioned again, no watery ghost, etc.So we're left with them shooting scenes from a movie that has no plot we're able to follow, accidents happen that...are not explained or talked about much. Why does a shovel fall on a cast member? Why does one women get bloody scratch marks on her arm? Why do they go out drinking at a bar and when they return home and find some things "wrong" in the cabin? These are ll tropes used in FF films--and basic horror films--so it's clear they didn't even TRY to shake things up. The climax also is just what we expect, running in the woods in the dark, a final lunge at the camera by the monster.Because the acting is fine, I was engaged the first 40 mins but then sensed that was it; the premise was set up but they weren't going to do anything but make the same old same old FF film. Which is fine--I like them, but if you're going to boast about making some new and different, that deliver. Or at least try to. Beginning with the title.

Let me just say this, right off the bat. Found footage has not and will never be my thing. Because what i just did when i watched the movie, was watch one of the defining moments of the found footage genre. I mean, MY GOD!! The acting was incredible. Maybe it was a bit meta with when were they "acting badly" ...so some acting bits seem bad ...or are they just that good? The clichés are all there, jump scares, the lot of them but my God, something makes it magical where even the actors are calling out their own tropes. You will laugh, maybe even freak out abit, but its not until the 3rd act (which the movie cleverly acknowledged) that you realize, that is not a fanta you've spilt on your pants and you're gonna need a change and a priest just in case this life is a found footage film in itself, and a whole lot of hell is coming your way.Bloody, brilliant movie.

Being a friend of the film's director, I have followed the production of Found Footage 3D for over 3 years. Despite not being a fan of horror or found footage films, I even contributed $55 to the 2014 Indiegogo campaign because I knew the director was very talented and clever (look up his short films "First Date" and "MacGuffin").Finally seeing this film at the London FrightFest was a great pleasure. My date and I came for just the single screening, and we were probably the only non-enthusiasts in the theater. We both loved Found Footage 3D, as did seemingly the rest of the audience too. The film is very well thought out and engages from start to finish. The thing unfolds so naturally that one does not have to consciously suspend his or her disbelief. Even the use of the cameras up to the final blood curdling scream is well justified.Found Footage 3D has mass-appeal potential because it "has something for everybody". As a horror film, it of course has scary and creepy moments, but these are not overly horrific or disgusting (i.e., it's not unsuitable for teenagers). The dialogue is witty, and the humorous moments are pretty much universally funny. For the adrenaline junkies, there is some heart-pumping, split-screen action to provide a sensory overload. The tender hearted will appreciate the inclusion of a strained marriage and love triangle exacerbated by an on-screen shagging.Found Footage 3D is well worth the cost of a 3D theater ticket. My lady friend said this movie could become a cult classic. It is an evergreen in the same way "Scream" is, and it will always be worthy of an in-home movie night with friends. Give yourself a treat and go see Found Footage 3D at your earliest convenience!
