A Disappointing Continuation

Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast

There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

Oh my lawd! This must be one of the most unwatchable movies I have ever suffered through ..... and I didn't even finish it. I'm proud that I actually made it through 40 minutes.Director/writer Alex Galvin seems more focused on creating some sort of noir imagery than having the actors actually act and tell a comprehensible story. Everyone looked and moved and spoke like an automaton! Like moving, talking, deadpan, mannequins. The opening setup is actually interesting for a story but - golly - did Mr. Galvin stop thinking at that point? This movie is not art cinema nor even a movie.... but it exist.Sorry Mr. Galvin, better luck next time.

Well, I know I am no movie critic, so this review is meant to reach the average Joe. Well, I can say one thing: I couldn't watch this movie till the end, despite its promising plot at the beginning. The dialogues are so artificial with a very articulate pronouncement of each word that I could imagine this movie was part of an English teaching programme or something of the kind meant to teach English to non-natives. I don't enjoy criticizing something that implies work and dedication, but this movie is way too far from anything that can claim belonging to an art form. I'm just wondering about its purpose... Well, unless you are struggling with English as a second language and you're looking for a movie where your listening-comprehension skills are going to be at their highest possible, don't waste your time watching this movie. Sorry guys, but that's the way it is. Next time try your skills into making English movies for people learning English as a second language and make sure you specify it.

The three stars are for Elliot Travers and Dean Knowsley who saved this movie. If the movie had been a two-hander, it would have been much better. Really, that's the best thing I can say about this movie. The other actors simply fail to engage or deliver. I must live on a completely different planet to the Cannes Jury - because I don't think I've experienced such stilted acting and badly written conversation since high school. The story is prosaic and predictable, the dialogue is dreadful - but Travers and Knowsley manage to transcend the words so well you actually care about them. But the other actors do not manage the same feat with the badly written repartee. I can't really blame them, but I was a little embarrassed to watch them. I kept thinking of those kids in school plays who try a bit too hard. I had no interest in the other characters' lives and found myself wanting them to keep quiet. I did want it all to be better, and I expected better - but I guess all NZ films can't be independent masterpieces. The premise was promising - but I felt I'd seen this story before.
