Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.
Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.
This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
The movie is not for everyone and is a bit repetitious. However, the repetitions help build up to the ending. Admittedly I was drinking when I watched it. I was in prison some years ago and used to be tortured regularly by my cellmate (and occasionally another inmate) until I screamed. I did not really mind it and, unlike the movie, was not cut open. One time in between tortures, my cellmate had a smile on his face and I asked him, "You like this (torturing me) don't you?" He shook his head yes. Perhaps that helps explain why I liked the ending of the movie when everyone, except the victim, was beaming with glee. Besides the ending, I also liked the girl in pigtails and the marching scenes.
That's all this film is - Gorenography. My mate brought it up tonight and goes "Man, you gotta see this. It's not the DePalma, but it's a super-gory sick flick". Well, ten minutes in and I thought, "This is terrible...". Twenty minutes in and I thought, "Have I fallen into a worm-hole? This is the same film..." Thirty minutes in and I actually said, "I am enjoying this about as much as I would enjoy watching a close relative die of cancer."By the 45 minute mark I had had enough. The quality of film-making here was actually worse than many porn movies I have seen, and I'm not a big porn fan. In fact the movie had the exact same structure as a run-of-the-mill skin flick. Girl goes to audition - girl gets murdered - cops have banter at crime scene - dumb arty surreal scene - girl goes to audition - girl gets murdered...And so it continues. For eighty minutes.I felt so used after watching this filth that I felt the need to research it on the net, just to see what other people's opinions were about it. Don't get me wrong - I'm a seasoned gorehound, but this was just insulting. I now have a much bleaker view of the movie industry having seen it. It was guerrilla film-making at it's most abysmal level. If Ulli says he had ANY kind of filming permit for this, he is clearly lying.Avoid at ALL costs, and I feel for those who are unfortunate enough to have had the displeasure.
The Black Dahlia (2006) is another one of Ulli Lommel's real life horror films. Based loosely upon the unsolved crime that still has people baffled for over 60 years. Casting calls are being held inside an abandon warehouse, Those that are unlucky to be brunette and white are brutalized and dismembered by three psychos (there leader was a former soldier who has similar experience whilst stationed in Iraq). The murders baffle two cops (one a drunk and the other a nosy rookie) who are trying to solve the case. The rookie notices the similarities to the unsolved Black Dahlia murders, During one of his investigations, he comes across a old man who remembers the Black Dahlia and the Iraqi War vet. One day, an exact doppleganger of the Black Dahlia enters the "casting call". The three killers stare in awe at her whilst the rookie cop finally puts two and two together. He arrives at the warehouse and tries to call for back up. Instead of calling HQ he reaches is partner (yeah, he's a rookie). To his horror, he sees the shock of all shocks when finally he finally realizes who's behind the murders and his horrific fate.Yeah, this movie has nothing to do with the Black Dahlia murders. But that has been done to death already. Did I want to see a dry and pretentious films with a bunch of over paid actors and a dollar wasted budget? No, I want to be entertained. Well, this movie did that. It's not as bad as people have made this out to be. It's stylish and gory with bits of humor sprinkled throughout. What more can you ask for?cheers.
I was going to rate this movie a 0, but you cant in this. All I gotta say is...81 minutes of CRAP!!! what a pathetic movie, it's meant to be a thriller but my friends and I laughed all the way through it, the actors should go or go back to acting school, because seriously 10 year old children can act better than that.Having to say that we watched the whole thing just to see if it went anywhere, and I tell you what, it doesn't. The end is bodged up and the you can tell it's a home made movie, the director on should be ashamed of this "E Grade" film, I would have gotten better value of barney and friends than this. If you want to waste your money on this then go for it, but please if you do then watch it drunk, you will laugh more.RIPPED OFF!! but laughed so yeah I guess i can push it up to half a star rating then.
