This is one of the best examples of how you do a pay per view and the Royal Rumble to boot.2001 was a interesting year for Wrestling and when the WWF shows who was the superior Federation at the time. It's one of my favorite PPV events so lets get on with the review1.The Dudley Boyz vs Edge and Christian for the WWF Tag Team Championship.Solid opener with two of the best tag teams in the WWF at the time and history both teams gave us a great showing on how to start up a show like the Royal Rumble with the Titles on the line as the Dudley Boyz went on to win the Tag Team Championship Rating: 8 out of 102.Chris Jericho vs Chris Beniot Ladder match for the WWF Intercontinental Championship. This is one of my favorite matches in wrestling history and the feud that was had between Jericho and Beniot is one of the most heated ones in wrestling history as both men gave us a great wrestling ladder match and Chris Jericho would claim victory over his rival and the Intercontinental Title.Rating: 9 out of 103.Ivory vs Chyna for the WWF Women's Championship. This match is still disappointing mostly because I hated Ivory and the group RTC looking back that pretty much killed the careers of all those who were in that group. Chyna ended up damaging her neck in this match and left her out of action.Rating 3 out of 10.4. Kurt Angle with Trish Stratus vs Triple H with Stephanie McMahon- Helmsley for the World Wrestling Federation Championship.I enjoy the build up to the match and it help tells the story of this match between the two as they give us a good match over all Part of the match was build up because of the feud between Trish and Stephanie and it left Triple H and Kurt Angle in the middle of it all while they fight for the WWF Title. With Stone Cold Steve Austin getting into the middle of the match. Rating 8 out of 105. The Royal Rumble MatchThis Rumble feature two records that were set this very night with Kane eliminating a record setting 11 people in the match and Stone Cold Steve Austin becoming the first man to win three Royal Rumble Matches. This match had everything you would want in a Royal Rumble match and then some. Rating 9 out of 10Overall this Royal Rumble is a strong show and had a epic showing over all if you love old WWF this is your show.I give WWF Royal Rumble 2001 an 8 out of 10

2001 definitely was the best year for WWF and its first PPV starts things off nicely.TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Dudleys against Edge and Christian a pretty good opener, the Dudleys are always great to watch but there wasn't much coming from Edge and Christian. there didn't seem to be any real threat but it was still pretty solid. lol when the two canucks try to hit D-Von on either side of the head with two steel chairs, he ducks and they bash off each other. Dudleys get a 3-D for the win. 7/10 INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH - LADDER: Chris Jericho vs Chris Benoit most action packed match of the night with both men using the ladder and other weapons. i think it was the longest match, Benoit tried a suicide dive but got whacked with a chair from Y2J, Jericho put him in the walls of Jericho while they were both on top of the ladder. Benoit tried a diving headbutt but missed and bounced his head off the mat. Jericho hit him in the back with a steel chair and caused him to flop out of the ring. Jericho climbs the ladder and gets the title belt. 9/10 WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Ivory vs Chyna this goes to prove that Chyna shouldn't wrestle women. it's a pretty one sided match with Chyna tossing Ivory around the ring like a rag doll and having fun with her outside the ring. she goes back inside and tries a handspring back elbow but injures her neck, allowing Ivory to climb on top of her and get the pin. 5/10 WWF CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Kurt Angle w/Trish Stratus vs Triple H w/Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley pretty good bout between two good wrestlers. Triple H of course can't stick to the rules for long and has Stephanie distract the referee so he can hit Kurt's ankle with a steel chair. Kurt gets the upper hand in the middle of the match and Stephanie's voice as she cheers on her husband is like nails on a blackboard. The game cheats again by using the ropes for leverage as he puts Kurt in an Indian deathlock. Trish breaks the hold and Stephanie slaps her. the two have a catfight and Vince comes down to separate them and has to carry Trish over his shoulder while Stephanie chases after them. the ref gets knocked out so he can't count to 3 when Triple H lands the pedigree. Stone Cold comes out and attacks Triple H. Kurt and the referee come round and Kurt gets the pin. 8/10 ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH: It started with the Hardy Boyz double teaming Bull Buchanan and Farooq but eliminating each other with a surprise appearance from Drew Carey. Kane dominates the match but it becomes hardcore as Raven, Al Snow and Steve Blackman bring weapons. The Honky Tonk Man shows up, sings his song and gets whacked over the head with his guitar by Kane. The Rock shows up and so does Big Show and gets eliminated early, he chokeslams Rock through the announce table in revenge. Undertaker comes in and him and Kane clear house. poor Scotty 2 Hotty has to enter alone with both of them. Stone Cold arrives but gets ambushed by Triple H before he can enter the ring. The One Billy Gunn, Haku and Rikishi enter and the final 4 is Stone Cold, Rock, Billy and Kane. Stone Cold wins and celebrates with beer. it would have been better if Billy or the Rock had won because Stone Cold was way overrated at this time. 8/10

Jericho jumped off the ladder but Benoit caught him and applied the Crossface, and Jericho was tapping out. Benoit let the hold go, but Jericho came back and threw Benoit into the ladder. They both started to climb the ladder, but Benoit pushed Jericho off. Benoit went for the headbutt off the top of the ladder, but Jericho moved. Jericho started to climnb once more, but Benoit pushed the ladder over and Jericho hit the ropes. Benoit treid to climb up but Jericho threw Benoit off after a chairshot, and he went flying over the top rope. Jericho climbed up the ladder and retrieved the IC Title. Winner: Chris Jericho, to become the new WWF Intercontinental Champion Match 3: WWF Women's Title Match: Ivory (w/Steven Richards) (c) vs. Chyna. Chyna started out with a clothesline and a few hair biels. Chyna propped Ivory on the top rope and hit a snap mare. Chyna then tossed Ivory over the top rope. The match then went into the crowd. Chyna then press-slammed Ivory back into the ringside area. Chyna then hit a powerslam, and Richards came in but Chyna took him down with a clothesline and threw him over the top rope. Chyna then hit her trademark handspring elbow. Chyna then collapsed and held her neck. Ivory got the pin. The announcers sold it as a serious injury. Billy Gunn came down to the ring. The EMT's took her to the back. Winner: Ivory by pinfallMatch 4: WWF Heavyweight Title Match: Kurt Angle (c) (w/Trish Stratus) vs. Triple H (w/Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley) Triple H started out working on Angle's arm. Angle came back with a hiptoss, and sent Triple H to the outside. Angle hit a backdrop, and took Triple H down with an armbar. Angle took down Triple H with a few suplexes for a 2 count. On the outside, Triple H dropped Angle face first over the ringside barrier. Back in the ring, Triple H took down Angle with a drop toe hold and applied a leg grapevine. Angle came back with an enziguri. Triple H went to crotch Angle on the ringpost, but Angle pulled his feet up and Triple H went flying into the ringpost. Angle then sent Triple H into the ringsteps. While the referee was distracted by Stephanie, Triple H whacked Angle's knees with a chair. Back in the ring, Triple H took Angle down with a few chop blocks. Triple H then applied his old WCW finisher, the Indian Deathlock, but Angle escaped. Triple H then hit his head-to-knee facebuster for a near fall. Triple H then applied a figure 4 leglock. Trish tried to help Angle escape, so Stephanie slapped Trish and pummeled her on the announce table. Vince McMahon then came down and tried to separate the two. Along with Backlash, Fully Loaded and Summerslam (all year 2000), this was is one of my favorite WWF pay-per-views. Aside from Ivory vs Chyna (which was inexcusable crap), every match was solid and excellent. The Dudley Boyz vs Edge & Christian for the Tag Team Titles was very exciting and a good starter for the great pay-per-view. Kurt Angle vs Triple H for the WWF Title was very good, though it ended differently than I expected. Chris Benoit vs Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Title was the best match of the night and definitely the best of the year so far.And of course there was the main event, the Royal Rumble itself. It was very exciting and entertaining, with great action moments and very funny moments too. It featured the returns of the Big Show, Al Snow and Haku. It included funny moments from Drew Carey and the Honky Tonk Man. The overall Rumble was very good, with Stone Cold Steve Austin winning, of course.Everybody knew Stone Cold was going to win, but the most impressive of the night was obviously Kane. Kane, who has always been one of my favorite wrestlers, was in the Royal Rumble for over an hour. He outlasted everybody and took out more wrestlers than anybody else did. Though he was one of the first ones out, he was also the last one eliminated, and it was almost disappointing to see Austin beat him. You've got to be impressed with Kane. It was truly his night.
