Newcomer director Vivek Agnihotri took the plunge of directly ripping-off the Hollywood hit 'Usual Suspects' in Bollywood as the lame excuse for a movie called 'Chocolate'.Nothing is in the right place in this movie. Be it acting, storytelling, hard-hitting dialogues or even the screenplay. No loose ends are tied in the end. No explanations are provided for the actions of the characters. We never get to know why do these five friends (Irfan Khan, Suniel Shetty, Emraan Hashmi, Arshad Warsi and Tanushree Dutta) keep committing one crime after another. No explanations have been provided for the eccentricities of the lawyer, Krish Pundit (played by Anil Kapoor). Why does the character of Monsoon Iyer (played by Sushma Reddy) acts like Anil Kapoor's Personal Assistant if she is a crime reporter? And Krish Pundit says that he doesn't care if the characters of Irfan Khan and Tanushree Dutta are guilty or innocent. Still, he wants them to tell him the true story linking them to the boat incident and truck robbery! After all, he is their lawyer and he's bound to fight for their cause even if they're lying to him or not saying anything at all.Music is pleasing to the ears. 'Mummy ko nahi hai pata' and 'halka halka' are the picks of the lot. Editing could've been sharper.Probably the editor was sleeping throughout the whole movie. Cinematography is awesome. If 'Chocolate' scores in any department it would be in the cinematography department as the beauty of London and its winter had been captured to the fullest. Vivek Agnihotri should be applauded for attempting something different but the problem lies in his execution. He doesn't know how to tell a story.'Chocolate' is the worst remake of 'Usual Suspects' which was a success at the box-office and was declared a classic. I would recommend that you rather borrow the DVD of 'Usual Suspects' instead.

The movie is inspired from A Hollywood movie Starring Kevin spacey, "the usual suspects". The movie has the same ending albeit the scenarios are lil different but the plot is the same. Here Irfan Khan plays the same role that Kevin spacey played in the English version of the film and in the end Anil Kapoor gets to know the real story just like the cop in the English version of the movie. All in all it is a facsimile of the original which directed Kevin spacey to stardom. Thought he film maintained a thrill right till the end and contains a huge twists in the end when Anil kapoor gets to know that he has been cheated, it is a good thriller to watch

That's the only thing that made sense in this movie. Trust me, I couldn't give the away the plot to this movie even if I tried, it's that bad. It's one of the worse things to come out of Bollywood in recent years, yet it still boast a stellar cast and with what at first seemed to be a promising storyline. Tanurshee Dutta, appearing in her second film with Emran Hashmi plays a prostitute named Simran Chopra and let me just tell you this, the director spares not expense is objectifying her. From her skimpy clothes in freezing London weather, to sleeping around with everybody under the sun, to sleazy dance numbers and indoor rain scenes, I'm sure guys would have not been bored watching this film. There's even a scene in which she attempts to pull a "SHARON STONE A LA BASIC INSTINCT LEG UNCROSSING SCENE" to reveal a tattoo on her inner thigh, it was so drastic. Poor girl, all the time they were making her seduce Anil Kapoor's character (a man more than twice her age) and Suniel Shetty, I just kept wondering if that sort of nonsense would have happened to the ones in Bollywood with Filmi Backgrounds. Ms. Dutta endured a lot all in the name of fame in this film. Poor, poor girl indeed.Oh! and what's with the extras with funny accents? Bollywood needs to stop this nonsense! When you're in London, get extras with authentic accents not bad actors with weird inapplicable accents, for instance the judge's accent was just too weird to handle, there is no way that she could be a judge in the British judicial system. Oh! and let's not talk about the Mafia's accents, the cops and the street beggars! The best acting I have seen by an extra in any Bollywoof film is probably Emma Bunton who plays Anna, Anil Kapoor's secretary and very well. The former spice girl may just have found her calling in Bollywood films, as I understand this isn't the only film she has appeared in.There was another thing that bothered me with this film and it has to do with the scene in the underground parking lot, with a woman, her child and their car. Is it at all believable that the woman would have entered the car started the engine, shut the door and be ready to drive off while her little daughter was still playing with a ball outside of the car??? Come on Bollywood! I fell down laughing and crying when I saw that scene! And do not get me started on the songs in the film, there's only one good one entitled 'Mummy Ko Nahin' and performed very well by Simran (Dutta's character). The worse song in the film is by far 'Jhuki, Jhuki' performed by the worst and sluttiest looking item girl I have ever seen. My four star rating of the film are split between Emma Bunton's performance in the movie and Tanushree Dutta's performance on 'Mummy Ko Nahi', I would have otherwise given the film an awful rating. Irfan Khan's talent is hopeless wasted in the movie.

FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS. Can the Bollywood directors please be original? As soon as I saw the boat explode in the first two minutes of the movie, I new it was a direct copy of The Usual Suspects. About an hour into the movie, I fast-forwarded to the end so that I could see if I was right. I stopped when I saw Keyser Soze..., ...I mean Murturza Arzai..., ...I mean Keyser Soze killing his family and then the kidnappers. I don't even think Agnihotri bothered to shoot his own scene there, it looks like he just cut it out of Singer's film and then put in to Chocolate (which would be more aptly named "Steaming, heaping pile of Hindi movie crap that I wouldn't pee on to put out a fire." I wish there were something lower than 1 on this voting jams, because it deserves a -100. I give this movie an F-.
