Admirable film.
It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
I don't understand why this movie deserves an above 8 score. The story is all right. The acting, dialogue, direction is ridiculous. The background music feels just like noise. A few songs are all right. The movie claims to be based on actual events. Well the director should have done more research before suggesting Indian intelligence agency's playing any role in terrorism in Pakistan.Well i guess Pakistan just knows to accuse but there is a certain thing as proof which is needed to prove accusation as fact. The monster of terrorism is Pakistan's own creation and now they are blaming India for their own mistake. This is stupid. I also urge Indians to down-vote this movie as best as they can.
I was one of the few privileged people that didn't get to watch this film in cinema and instead waited a whole year for it be aired on TV. While my expectations for the movie were not that high from the beginning, the sheer awfulness of the movie not only shattered but desecrated whatever hopes i had. Waar is truly an awful movie, and its awful as a whole. The editing, the direction, the story, the acting, the score and even the cast is awful. If you ever had to describe the word "awful" to anybody just tell them to watch Waar. I get that its a fresh start for Pakistani cinema and i have to appreciate the effort (otherwise i'll be a raw agent) but it doesn't mean that you can spew out such crap movies and expect people to like it because of their nationality. In short this movie is a crap-fest and shouldn't be watched on cinema, DVD or TV. Don't even bother to pirate this.
With a budget of 1.7 Mn $ this movie is Pakistan's most expensive movie(Yes! Believe me!), while they have shown totally opposite of what they are. Time Waste!Coinciding with the release of War Chhod Na Yar on the Indian side, comes a Pakistani movie called Waar which has an entirely different story-line. Opening to cinemas on Eid this week, Waar is a movie about Pakistan's war on terrorism and how India is behind all the terrorist activities that take place in Pakistan.Relying heavily on stereotypes that exist in Pakistani media already, Waar is a story about one Major Mujhtaba, a retired army officer who had taken an early retirement from the forces due to personal reasons. This lead role is played by the country's top actor, Shaan.A special task force of the police is trying to tackle terrorism in the tribal areas but there comes a time when they realize that Pakistan is about to be hit by a terrorist attack and none but the retired Major Ehtesham can lead such a complicated operation. The two villains in the movie that emerge are the local politicians (there are look alikes of Zardari and Nawaz Sharif) and RAW agents, who come in different shapes and sizes. The two RAW agents Ramal and Laxmi are the primary cause of most trouble in Pakistan. The movie shows them behind political murders, suicide bombings and even kidnapping. There is another RAW agent who works as a social worker by day and honey-traps willing politicians by nights.
I went to watch this movie with high hopes but it was far less than my expectations. The action sequences were brilliant and new to Pakistani Cinema but that was it. There was not much depth in the story. Local sentiments expressed in a foreign language felt like we were watching a dubbed movie. The subject of terrorism was explored in a lopsided manner. Instead of exploring the hardliner Islamists mindset, the story writer went for the easy and safe target i.e. India. I don't understand why this movie was made in English as there is nothing in it for foreign audience. The dialogs would have been more impressive if written in Urdu which was another drawback of the movie.
