Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

I first saw this in a theatre with my dad n son. Revisited it recently on a dvd. It is a solid crime thriller. Rani Mukherjee pulled of the job of a cop very well. The direction, editing n script was tight n superb. The fight sequences were good too. People may find similarities with Trade (2007) n Taken (2008).

This is one such movie which shows about a real police officer who leaves no stone unturned to eradicate the sex trafficking gang. We usually see police officers in movies in a really silly manner. I really don't think this could be a rip-off of Taken as Taken had a really different story-line. This movie had achieved one thing that even women can kick some bag,the best part of the movie is the suspense hooked up in the climax when Rani Mukherjee enters the antagonist's house and gets captured but she had even planned her own capture by having a bunch of knives in her shoes.Rani Mukherjee's acting was far more better than any other actresses who has done this role. Along with Chulbul Pandey and Bajirao Singham we have Shivani Shivaji Roy next.

MARDAANI grabs your attention from the commencement and never relents. Padding the proceedings with several intense episodes, MARDAANI eventually becomes the good versus evil fight as the protagonist makes her way to the baddie behind the baddies. On the whole, MARDAANI is relevant, powerful and inspiring with a top notch performance by Rani Mukerji. Worth a watch! MARDAANI is a crime drama, which is packed with action and thrills. Rani Mukerji plays a tough cop who does her job with her heart and mind. She puts in her blood and sweat to bust a human-trafficking racket. The show she puts together on the big screen is simply awesome! Overall, watch it for one and only Rani Mukerji! She will blow your mind!! Hats off to the cast and crew also for delivering a realistic experience with a strong impact leaving us spellbound!!

Mardaani. It's a welcome change. A heroine oriented violent movie from YRF without a single song and without any distractions from the main plot during those crisp and tight 1 hour and 50 minutes. Rani Mukerjee after a long time gets a fresh and meaty role in form of a lady police officer from Mumbai crime branch who starts investigating a women trafficking crime for her own reasons but soon finds the bigger and ugly picture.Movie gains its strength from its reasonably short length. From the scene one, without wasting a minute you are introduced to tough and quirky Shivani Shiviji Rao and before you settle down, she is playing the cat and mouse chase game with her nemesis played by newcomer Tahir Raj Bhasin who is also at equal ease and full of fire power.Although movie does not dare to go into much detailing of the heinous crime and also somewhat fails to exploit the emotional connection between Rani and her doctor husband. But still using a linear screenplay and funny one liners here and there, movie holds itself together to keep you interested in the proceedings. I am going with strong 7 out of 10 for Mardaani. At the end, you feel satisfied and movie sends its message right that women are not to be taken for granted.
