It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
I first learned about this movie through its trailer on another VHS where its known as Back For Revenge which in my eyes is a better name for this movie. I really enjoyed this film and it made me a fan of C Thomas Howell. It was also interesting to see a young Brian Austin Green in a supporting role. If this movie was set in the wild west it still would be an awesome movie.I'll definitely recommend this film for anyone who enjoys revenge movies or C Thomas Howell. Not only did this film have great action it also had great drama added to the mix is an excellent cast with a terrific script and awesome directing. They don't make them like this anymore and probably never will.So watch this movie whenever you can. Thanks for reading this review.
Trouble walks into town, off a bus in this simple, sort of plain revenge, flick. Ponyboy Howell is in town to settle some old scores, well take out a score of men who killed his parents. Howell shot one, and ended up in jail for his troubles. Now out, he will finish the job, well some nasty obstacles come into play, one of them a corrupt sheriff (R La Ermey). He's befriended by a hot Sarah Trigger and her brother, (yes Trigger pash a little bit-well they do spend an intimate moment. But unbeknown to Howell, their father is one of the baddies. Trigger and bro never knew about their father's murderous and corrupt activities. We see some inventive ways of murder used, Howell, one smart puppy. The acting not really anything to write home about, good performances are random here, Howell probably one of the best. The better titled Kid is really just a paint by numbers, formula, revenge flick. If a revenge or C Thomas fan, this is your thing, but if it isn't you're probably better seeking out other pics.
Kid starring C. Thomas Howell is a High Plains Drifter modern knockoff and while it will never stand comparison to the Clint Eastwood classic it's not a bad film on its own.We never know what Howell's real name is, but he's come to a sleepy, modern western town complete with the same long coat that Clint Eastwood wears and starts targeting a few of the town's citizens for demise. Trust me however, Howell's got a very good reason for wanting this. The only problem is with the last guy on his list, Dale Dye. He's away from town when Howell first arrives and the two people who befriend him are his children, Sarah Trigger and Brian Austin Green in his pre-90210 days. It doesn't detract from his main mission. The ending is rather lame, it doesn't really holdup given the character motivation that is established for Howell. Still Kid is not a bad film and the western scenery is just fine.
Perhaps a bit cheesy at times, but I do believe it's the best revenge movie I've seen. I've only had the chance to see it once and would like to see it again, to possibly reaffirm my high opinion of the flick, but it's a hard one to come by.
