Very disappointing...
A Masterpiece!
Yo, there's no way for me to review this film without saying, take your *insert ethnicity + "ass" here* to see this film, like now. You have to see it in order to know what you're really messing with.
It's an amazing and heartbreaking story.
This was a beautifully crafted movie with so many memorable scenes. Also, the story was told from a perspective that has not been heard before. The movie portrayed the story of Mohammed in a humanistic and emotional way that left me with numerous soaked tissues. I would say that this was of the same caliber as Mel Gibson's Passion of Christ. What I truly appreciated was the telling of a story of a boy who had so many commonalities with us humans, and did not bible/Koran bash the viewer. It also focused strongly on the story of Amina, the prophet child's mother. The story was so gripping and the perspective and narrative was so fresh. Kudos to Majid Majidi for taking such a difficult and historically complicated story and packaging it in a way that the general viewer could enjoy. It also did not politicize the story into a religious agenda, which I TRULY APPRECIATED (again, no Koran/bible bashing happening here!)Two criticisms: The movie is heavy on historical content, which isn't always explained well. The story starts in the future with the signing of a treaty, but then moves to the past. That was a bit difficult to follow. However, I appreciate that creating a piece that is true to historical content will run into such issues. Seeing how so much ground was so well covered in this film (where 3 hours just flew by!), I find that this critique is a mild one.The second critique is that the subtitles did not always make sense. On some occasions, I think that the subtitles were literal translations of Persian idioms, which left me scratching my head going *What??*. I think the cons are so heavily outweighed by the pros that I am rating this movie a 10! A must see for historical and religion buffs, and people who want a real nice feel good movie.LOVED IT!
Before I watched this film, I thought one should be really expert in historical facts to build a historical movie which I realized was wrong. It's a film without even a plan! which contains just miracles every Iranian has heard of. Maybe Majidi was exited about the technology of special effects and wanted to show every miracle he has heard. And the rest of the film is about everyone is attracted to Muhammad without a reasonable reason while he is just a baby or little boy. I was wonder if Majidi has read even a book about Muhammad. But in the positive sight I thought the music and special effects of the film was really good.
"Muhammad: The Messenger of God" is a fantastic movie that shows a different face of Islam prophet include the real facts of his life. In this time which in some extremist groups such as Alqaedah, Daesh and Bukuharam are killing people under mask of Islam, these art works can show the world people that real Islam is not like them. Real Islam is the religion of peace and friendship. The good actors, visual effects and 3D sound of movie are other strengths of the movie. Congratulates to Majid Majidi and other movie factors. I strictly recommend watching this movie. My recommendation is not only for all Muslims, but also for anyone who is looking for the right.
I really need to watch this movie but due ban issues, we are unable to watch it in Pakistan. I have read all the comments above and see that there is an overwhelming majority of sane people who think that this movie is not a violation of their "Islam" but just another way of spreading the Message of Muhammad (S.A.A.W), the beloved of Allah to the masses. How anyone perceives this message is entirely up to his own...My only answer to negative mullah type thinkers is a crude translation of Baba Bulleh Shah's verse of Punjabi:You seek the Light, In Kaabah and Paradise; We are with Huzoor (S.A.A.W) Who stays in our Moor...--- I do not claim right to any text written above. I just spoke my heart out.Peace (Salaam)
