When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.

This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

"Die Mamba" is a German/Austrian co-production from 2014, so two more years until this one has its 5th anniversary. The writer and director is Ali Samadi Ahadi and he made this one in-between his Petterson/Findus films. It runs for 1.5 hours roughly and received a solid deal of awards attention at the Austrian Film Awards. I cannot really see why. i guess it must be because Michael Niavarani is pretty famous there. German audiences get Christoph Maria Herbst, but even if I like Stromberg, I am not sure if this is a good thing as his big screen performance outside his trademark role felt pretty uninspired and frequently also the victim of bad writing. i would say this is true here as well. For the first half of the film he felt really nonexistent almost despite being introduced at the very start of the film. And the turn his character took in the second half never felt realistic at all. Honestly, I'd rather expect him to drink himself to death after his professional struggles and after he was let go other than suddenly joining force with the bad guys. Anyway, this is a comedy about mistaken identities as there are so many from Germany and Niavarani plays a character who is on the one hand a mastermind criminal and on the other a very simple guy and it's not a disguise as I thought early on. It is indeed two character who look like twins. And as for one of the central character being the Mamba, this criminal genius I mentioned, really a lot goes wrong here. The film is mostly about Klamauk (as we say here in Germany) and never about strong story-telling unfortunately. And the worst thing is that hardly any of the jokes are working and for a comedy movie this is of course a negative deal-breaker, especially with the action/crime parts also being relatively underwhelming. All in all, the film fits in well with the great amount of forgettable stuff when it comes to German films from recent years that may have one or two big names to the cast (Julie Englebrecht is somewhat known too I think), but just not a script that makes an impact whatsoever. Or is memorable. A bit of a disappointment as ASA has made films for quite a while now. This must be one of his worst. Watch something else instead.

Aka washed out Mamba. And by the way this is nothing like Johnny English. Because even when Rowan Atkinson is silly, in his "worst" moments as Johnny English, it never gets as low as this. Plus, while Christoph Maria Herbst is a good actor and always brings intensity to his roles, the same cannot be said of the rest of the cast. Our main character/actor may be a great comedian outside of film, but this can barely translate on screen, when the juvenile jokes misfire as often as his pistol does (if not even more often). It's a bit uneven too. With the sexual attraction for example it tries to make fun of it, by not going that route (which is silly and not funny), just to change that towards the end and "doing" it. Which is not the worst thing happening here, but if you really dare find out for yourself

I watched "The Mamba" in Vienna in a sold out theater. People were laughing the whole time... It was a grate atmosphere.Michael Niavarani, the super-star of the Austrian cabaret, Proshat Madani, Christoph Maria Herbst the super-star of the German-comedy and also the "Tomb Rider" Melika Forutan are all doing a really great job. The film is a mix between Slapstick, screwball-comedy and Action-film. The Camera has a very unusual stile for an Austrian film and also the set design of the film never gives you the feeling of an Austrian production! :)I think if you like Johnny English, you will enjoy also "The Mamba"!!

Austrias Top-Comedian Michael Niavarani plays a double role: he is the clumsy sound designer Hossein who has just lost his job and he is also the most dangerous agent in the world, called the "Mamba". Niavarani is surprisingly good as Mamba, tough, trained in martial arts, a real killing machine – not a role you would expect from him. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Steven Seagal should take care because soon Niavarani will do their jobs. The wonderful actress Proschat Madani (CopStories) plays Hosseins wife and it is such a funny pleasure to watch her. She is a very jealous wife and follows her husband to Marokko. Christoph Maria Herbst (Stromberg) is CIA Agent Bronski who hunts the Mamba but I think he would have needed much more screen time. Julie Engelbrecht is one of his agents and does a nice job.Melika Foroutan plays Agent Sherazade who has a crush on the Mamba but she doesn't know that she confuses him with the clumsy Hossein. Foroutan is really great in her action scenes but not very much convincing in the romantic scenes.Bronskis hunt for the Mamba leads him to some great places in the world. We see them in Vienna, especially in the Zoo Schönbrunn with the animals in the background and in Casablanca with a beautiful Bollywood-looking background. One of the funniest scenes is the guest appearance from Gregor Seberg and Liliane Klebow from "Soko Donau (aka Soko Vienna)" but I don't wanna spoil too much here. Good direction, great camera work, fast edits and an action driven story makes this comedy to the perfect entertainment for a rainy Sunday. And the idea to turn comedian Michael Niavarani into an Action hero is just great!
