Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.

If one is looking for an example how a completely nonsensical execution can ruin an exciting plot considering the viewers all brainless creatures sitting in the theater, then MR. X would be the perfect film to be quoted even ahead of the recent dud ROY. But in case the statement doesn't deliver the message clearly then supporting it further, MR. X is just another lazily made, outrageously silly project coming from the Bhatt camp, who once used to make CINEMA but are now only interested in doing BUSINESS with lackluster, poor films being regularly offered as products just like soaps or detergents sold in the general supermarket. For friends who still are willing to read the review, it's a typical Bhatt camp formula movie beginning with a clichéd sequence making no impression whatsoever in its first 40 minutes despite the love songs and infamous 'Hashmi kisses' as always. It has a weird casting choice wherein the young, well-built Arunoday Singh is presented as a middle aged, grey haired, hamming chief of police force who suddenly turns into the baddie in the very next scene. And then despite having all deliberately added bedroom and pool sequences there is zero chemistry to be found between the sleep walking Emraan and the beautiful Amyra, who looked much better in her first film ISSAK. At times beginning of few songs in the background turn out to be surprisingly funny instead of emotional. Plus when the game of invisibility begins then the explanations given, graphics used and the way Emraan goes on and off at his own will without any kind of engaging logic given, simply makes you go ROFL in the new-age net language, meaning 'Rolling on floor laughing" Inspired from many entertaining films made on the similar concepts in the past (both in English and Hindi), it would be in fact insulting naming a few in this review to be straight. But ignoring any such 'creative crime' committed, the makers even dare to end their film with an open climax hinting towards a sequel raising a valid question that, 'How dumb they actually assume their viewers to be?"With no justification of why the film was made in 3D, MR. X neither has any of those good trademark love songs in a Bhatt camp film nor it has some enjoyable graphics that ought to be the backbone of a project revolving around 'The Invisible Man'. Completing the circle, repeating both the title & the subject used by Nanabhai Bhatt (in his 1957) directed film MR. X featuring Ashok Kumar in the lead role, the present version falls way short of even that black and white film made more than half a century back in terms of entertainment. In short, the experience of watching MR. X is exactly like watching a POGO channel comedy serial made for the kids that even the kids would surely reject as non-entertaining. Interestingly the film also features the now famous comedian Tanmay Bhat (of AIB fame) and it would be great to see how he presents a spoof on his own film in one of the next episodes of AIB.However ending on a serious note (as mentioned earlier in one of my reviews), films like MR.X are actually 'feeder movies', that these multiplexes desperately need to display every week as 'new releases' in order to keep them running. In reality, these are the projects made in between 'the major' ones to keep the business going, otherwise how will the multiplexes earn if there would be only one or two movies releasing in one month? In fact that will totally crush their 'weekend business strategy' highly dependent upon new releases alone, coming every week irrespective of their content or quality.Hence it doesn't matter whether they are enjoying or not the process of writing and making these films, the production houses are bound to keep supplying such kind of hurriedly made business products to the multiplexes in the name of cinema. And the plan will keep on working till 'the consumer or the viewer' wakes up from his sleep in the coming future. So the slogan is "Jaago Grahak Jaago" and stop playing in the hands of this silly 'weekend business model' of the entertainment world at the earliest.

Nothing great can be expected from the Bhatts these days. Still I gave Mr.X a try considering Emraan Hashmi's acting and it being promoted as a science fiction. Forget science-fiction this movie defies your logic. The screenplay feels like it has been written for people with single digit IQ. Raghu (Emraan Hashmi) works in anti- terrorism department with his girlfriend Seeya (Amyra Dastur). He is framed for murder of CM and then presumed to be killed by the bad guys who set it up (who actually work for the anti-terrorist dept. itself!?!). But the hero lives and helped by some unknown doctor giving him some drug. This induces some reaction making him invisible. Bravo! The hero is set, time to beat the bad guys! There is absolutely zero science here and all we get is fill of ho-hum. The action is worse so is the crappy CGI! The dialogues are pathetic and even Emraan Hashmi couldn't save this ride. Not at all recommended.RATING: [0.5/5]

I stopped watching Bollywood movies but after watching 'Badlapur', I thought they aren't that bad and so went to watch Mr. X because of its interesting plot which made me realize why I stopped watching Bollywood movies (again). The film starts abruptly giving a crash course for the character's life, whole character development in first 15 min with the song, after that the characters are dropped and the actors are allowed to do whatever the hell they want. The movie insults the intellect of the audience by offering bullshit logical explanation to how the protagonist gains his powers and what exactly is his power set. Somehow, a chemical that he ingests not only makes him invisible but also his clothes!! He becomes visible irrespective of the light source's direction. It is more than apparent that they have bent the logic to their convenience like giving the power of invisibility to a piece of clothing which had nothing to do with the chemical ingested or the chemical at the warehouse, just to keep the character clothed whenever he decides to make an appearance. The heroine is given a complicated and borderline artificial personality, also a not so subtle attempt to portray her as an antagonist which FAILS and instead comes out really foolish. The only thing that made this movie different was the new antagonist, he really had a presence but fellow actors sabotaged his talent and made him look like a fool too. Anyways the reason I rate this 4 instead of 2 is because of the antagonist.I know getting an original idea is tough but doesn't mean that the producers (and/or directors) get to pick out a movie out of the shelf and remake it into a monstrosity. To the directors: Please invest some time and find a set of eyes with a brain to tag along with you when you waste money making movies which kill your reputation and the viewer's time.Moral of the story for the viewers: Check (and believe) the IMDb score before you decide to go to a movie!

I usually abstain myself from rating a film 0%, but earlier this year Roy (2015) and then Ek Paheli Leela (2015) forced me to go ahead with naught. Vikram Bhatt's latest experiment also falls in the same category. With a feeble opening sequence, the film begins to confirms its audience's nightmare by constructing a make-believe story on a clumsy and baseless plot. Raghu (Hashmi) is an officer with the anti- terrorist squad who is cheated by his own men and eventually murdered. Only, to find that he's not really dead, but invisible; and helping him in becoming undead is, no prize for guessing, none other than the Almighty. Now, as absurd as it sounds, the writers flounder with the most basic factor involved in a sci-fi setup like this - they fail to distinguish between science and God. And we end up wondering - was it God that made him invisible or science? And if you choose to watch this (which I am advocating you not to), that should be the one thing you must try to find out, for there is not much excitement anywhere else. There is dub-step music for revelers if they feel like getting up in between the movie and dance. The dialogs are pure terrible with some examples that goes like "...nahi, tum kanoon mat todo..." as if justice is a ceramic plate, or "...jab science ko kuch pata nahi hota, to samaj lo wo Bhagwan hai..." While Emraan Hashmi is the showman, he clearly does what he was told and I am not much of a fan of his script- choosing abilities. His co-actor Amyra Dastur should have packed her bags the day she was cast opposite Prateik Babbar in her debut film. She CANNOT act. Period. In addition, the CGI makes Jaani Dushman (2002) look like a masterpiece. There is no single source of entertainment in this film that one could possibly extract. With scenes copied from Badshah (1999) and The Italian Job (2003), Mr. X should be shoveled right into where most films of the Bhatt clan go: the overfilled dustbin.BOTTOM LINE: I cannot be more critical than this and if you still decide to watch it, then let Mr. X save you. 0/10 - fail. Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES
