Truly Dreadful Film
Too much of everything
The acting in this movie is really good.
Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
Inspiration' Charles Dickens is just the first casualty. Fitoor spares no one, not Kashmir, not Delhi, not London, not artists, and not even poor Pakistan, which somehow finds its way into this tale essentially about love traversing social divides. (Also read: Sanam Re movie review: Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam's film is cliché-ridden) Meanwhile, having decided that in a film where all of Aditya Roy Kapoor's hair is bunched upon his head and all of Katrina's is plunged in a Chinar-esque red, in the hope perhaps that you don't notice their blank faces below, Tabu takes it upon herself to act for the entire film. Her overladen, overdressed, overwrought Begum has done a hop, skip and jump (should that even be possible) from Haider and Vishal Bhardwaj to Fitoor and Abhishek Kapoor. (Read: Fitoor and Sanam Re, two love stories to clash at box-office today) There is a Ms Havisham in there but you have to search for it past all this, the flowing hair again and those ornate clothes (whatever happened to the sole wedding dress of Ms Havisham?). So, once upon a time there was a boy, here called Noor , who lived in this innocent place called Srinagar (shot beautifully) where fierce militants with wounds (Ajay Devgn, hard to decipher, but something about Army does get mentioned) accosted children like him in the middle of the night and demanded help. Noor doesn't think twice which, as we know from Great Expectations, sets one chapter in his life.
WTF guys... The entire movie is copy of Charles Dickens's novel "The great expectation"I watched that seven years ago in black & white version, ( i think made in 1940's ) even much more interesting than this fake movie... young boy helping militant, The adopting of girl by old woman, and brought her up for one purpose only: to break men's hearts. Just to revenge man who broke her heart... The whole story from beginning to end is copy... I bet, those who read that novel or watched film (based on that novel) will hate this fitoor thing. As it was the copy of 1940's movie then they should've to make this film better and more interesting but no... they've completely failed... Shame on film makers of this "bakwas" movie
I wouldn't be lying if I say I was waiting for its release ever since the first poster was out. To see Tabu, Aditya, Katrina and Abhishek working together was a very interesting prospect. It was surprising to see so many negative reviews within the first two days nonetheless I decided to watch it last night and as Noor would say... "there was an explosion in my mind!" The locations, the costumes, the music and the dialogues weave into a spell binding experience. The actors definitely did justice to the roles with Tabu and Aditya standing out. Katrina's character unfortunately did not allow her to display a lot of emotions. As I stated earlier this movie was a feast to the mind. My friend and I continued discussing the characters' motives after the movie. Somehow it was strangely relatable. But it did not create the same explosion in the heart/soul. I loved the Hawke and Paltrow's version of Great Expectations, and was glad that Fitoor is a very different adaptation. It is definitely worth a watch. And do not expect histrionics or over the top drama. The movie weirdly had a very relaxing effect. I really enjoyed it.

Director literally makes you feel bore as the second progress and dumps many things. Twists are OK but justification for those twists are still confusing. Every thing was fast, as if we are reading a novel in fast version. I doesn't recommend this movie but watch it once if you like.Thirteen-year-old Noor falls in love with Firdaus, daughter of Begum, the wealthiest woman in town.
