Excellent but underrated film

Brilliant and touching

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

It is hard to find info of this movie in the Web.A cast indicates, this IDM-listed title is a film I think of, a movie about teens at a cancer hospital, fooling around their last months of lives, while a comedy genre of this work makes this story even more tragic and touching, first love and teen death imminent depicted.Incomprehensive life limitation death brings about while youth blossoming is probably a very idea of appreciating any moment those lucky to live should upheld.Interesting work. Special work. Rare work.Outstanding topic has been present in an easy-to-comprehend form.

The best part of this film is the choice of leads. The three fresh-faced youths who are completely absorbed in the effects of hormonal changes in their bodies play their roles in an amusing and pleasant manner. Unfortunately, the material they have to work with is poor with scarcely a fresh idea. Originality is important for my enjoyment, but I was just a short way into this film when I realized I had seen most of these antics before in the well-known well-promoted "American Pie". Just substitute warm spaghetti for the apple tart and you finish up with the same odd-flavoured meal. I have to admit that the tangled spaghetti hanging between the boy's legs is a comical invention of the writer. Bowel problems, vomiting attacks and masturbation are common to both films, but somehow the American version is much funnier. Knocking on the bedroom and bathroom doors when the boys are concentrating on an accurate measurement of their rod to see if it complies with the average statistics is an amusing moment for most men who have at some time or another worried unnecessarily about their own dimensions.The vomit scene which comes unexpectedly may surprise some, but I have seen this happen in a movie theatre drenching the patrons in front. Unstoppable and so embarrassing!One gathers from the film that girls are much better informed about the mysteries of sex than the somewhat innocent and naive boys trying to work out what's what as they approach manhood.The film ends on a quieter note after all the suggestive goings-on indicating that lust is not the prime objective, but that it is true love that we are all searching for.

I'm gonna write it in english, though I doubt many people outside France have the occasion to see it...I was introduced to this movie by a french TV show talking about DVDs, done by a rather funny guy who is used to bashing "navets" as we call bad movies in french. He said that while seeing the movie, he could imagine the producers discussing about making a teen movie with some pretty girls (check), gross scenes (check), a guy masturbating with some food (check), to ride the wave of American Pie. So I told myself it would be a "navet" to remember. In the end, I think the producer scene imagined by that guy was quite realistic; but the director managed to make an enjoyable movie with it, with weak or boring moments (some scenes seemed to be there just to make the movie a little longer), but with good moments. The actors are lovable, not always very good, but at worst adequate. Armelle Deutsch is great (she's just my type, that helps...). It's not an "all out attack" comedy; there are calm moments, and actually a much much better understanding of how young people manage their love lives than american pie. That's the kind of movie that I can't help liking, though I see many flaws in it (acting, directing, mandatory scenes for the genre that are just boring). Thus, I give it a 5/10.

"Sexy Boys" is France's equivalent to the teen comedy smash hit "American Pie" about three French boys who search for sex and/or love. There's even a scene closely modeled after the (in)famous Pie-scene, this time using spaghetti. Not really imaginative.That goes for the whole film. Nothing you haven't seen before, nothing you haven't laughed about before. That said, the cast is lovable, some of the scenes still manage to have a fresh comic timing - but those scenes are sparse.The worst thing is the gross out. Once, one of the drunk boys pukes on the desk of the guy he's having the job interview with. In the spaghetti scene, the food has a "special flavor" afterwards. And so on. It's not all that funny. The more subtle humor works way better.The strangest thing (and that's rather close to "American Pie" actually) is that after all the sex talk and gross out, the film wants to be moral and comes across as conservative and uptight. Overall, it's mildly entertaining, but not as bad as it could have been. Therefore, I'd rate it5/10
