Good story, Not enough for a whole film
I enjoyed this movie much more than I thought I would. It had a strong lead on a great concept, well acted by young actors and actresses. Loved the vision of the story. Have you ever watched a movie and something glaringly obvious was out of place? This strange world where a person wakes up everyday in a different body had that Hollyweird twist where half the folks in it like folks of the same gender, instead of the 1% as reported by the World Health Organization or the 2% as reported by the CDC for the USA. Weird, twisted stuff. Too bad, would have been really good except for that huge misstep. It is like casting Kevin Spacey as an elementary school teacher or Oprah as a bulimic white girl. Too bad.
The best thing about this movie is that the whole time I was watching it I was thinking of what will come next, and to be honest it surprised me every time. The idea of the movie is exceptionally unique which alone is really entertaining, and the meaning behind the concept of the plot is simple to grasp. However the ending was a bit disappointing as it was expected and didn't exactly fit the trend of the unusual and took a while to deliver the final message(but it was incredibly filmed and was also realistic which is effective and rewarding). In a nutshell, every day is an amazing movie, so if you're in the mood for something that is new but still interesting this is defiantly the movie for you!!
When I read the premise, I felt it was a rip on the YouTube series, without giving credit. But I decided to watch it anyway. And, I really enjoyed it. Since its a teen romance type drama, something I haven't watched since my own teens back in the 80s, I watched it without that fore knowledge. The only YA I watch are sci-fi or fantasy based films. So, to watch Every Day and to still have it hold my attention and keep me captivated, without all the flash bang effects of other CGI multi-million $ productions, it did a very good job. Time is precious to me and taking it out to watch a film, I usually wouldn't watch and yet still enjoy as much as I did this one, was well worth it.The portrayals were great and the lead did an awesome job.
Personally I believe if you're to base a movie off of a book it should at least seem like, oh I don't know, you read the book. I read both Another Day and Every Day and literally was so lost watching this movie from almost the beginning. I get that you can't get everything exactly right but there was a lot more that could have been done to match the book than there was. I hated this movie. I love both the books. What a shame.
