Sorry, this movie sucks
Don't listen to the negative reviews
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Let's put this as simply as possible: this movie is the much-needed mainstream version of the novel. While Tim Curry's portrayal of the dancing clown had us cheering for IT to win, this version gives you a lovable gang of kids who steal the show. No disrespect to Bill Skarsgard, but he is, after all, playing the villain. It takes an INCREDIBLY powerful performance to sway the audience into supporting such an evil being, and he fell short of that mark, albeit mostly because of the great kids. Nice scares, good story.
Read the book then judge it don't just read the reviews. "IT" is actually a great movie that will give goosebumps. You will float too!
IT has a lot of good elements such as Penny-wise and the main cast. Penny-wise was portrayed pretty well and he is used very well throughout and the main cast are likeable, funny and relatable in their situation. The film has a really good story of course being based on the Stephen King book and is probably one of the best modern horror films to have come out.It also has a lot of memorable scenes that is more than can be said for most horror movies coming out nowadays, such as the sequence in the old house, the projector scene in the garage and the iconic opening. My problems with the movie are in its tonal inconsistencies mainly, such as parts of the film jumping way too quickly between comedy and horror which can dilute the situation the characters are in sometimes. For example the rock throwing scene feels very out of place for me. It also isn't all that scary and doesn't have any truly haunting or suspenseful scenes.Overall I think IT is a good movie and is worth seeing but still I think it is over-hyped and over-rated.
1. It's not scary. 2. When kids don't act like kids, it's stupid. 3. doesn't even have a proper story-line -- loosely bound with a lot of no common sense stuff.Except for looking good with graphics, all the time we keep praying that there would be some thread that would tie all this nonsense together to make us feel better in the end -- but it's flat nonsense. I'd personally prefer Jeepers Creepers over this, even the no graphic Conjuring 1 and 2 fare very well before this one. This over-hyped movie is a sheer disappointment. It hurts even more to know that this is just 'Chapter 1' of the nonsense. If there are anymore sequels past this, it would most definitely be a cumulative garbage of sorts since the main story holds no foundation of any sorts.
